    Thank you so much. We really appreciate your help with this. We’ve got 2.3.3. now! Whew!

    Hi Whooami
    Inside the file it says:
    This holds the version number in a separate file. We can bump it without cluttering the SVN.

    $WP_Version=’2.3.2′;
    $WP_dd_version=6124;

    Does this help? Why is it saying 2.3.2 instead of 2.3.3. I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks.

    Dear Mark,
    I appreciate your reply. We contacted the client’s host and were told the following:

    fopen is on.

    ; Whether to allow the treatment of URLs (like https:// or ftp://) as files.
    allow_url_fopen = On

    # This file controls the state of SELinux on the system.
    # SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
    # enforcing – SELinux security policy is enforced.
    # permissive – SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing.
    # disabled – SELinux is fully disabled.
    SELINUX=disabled

    selinux is fully disabled.

    This server is not in high security, it isn’t chrooted.

    You do have a firewall on the server, it allows outgoing connections to common ports open on your server, however it may not if it is connecting to a obscure port, you’d have to let us know what port it is connecting to.”

    So, I guess it isn’t any of these things, and we’ve again tried and tried to input the API key but continue to get the same error message. Would you have any other ideas? We’re really bummed that we can’t get this figured out. Thank you for your generous time.

    Hello again Vkaryl,
    Thank you for sticking with this with us.
    We checked the file, just as you said, and it says content, not excerpt.

    I just don’t know what to do. We did ask the host if they’d done anything. The client is hosted by the same company we are. The tech said no. So far, our own blog remains okay.

    Is there something specific you’d suggest I ask the hosting company that might lead to answer besides, “No, nothing was changed?
    Thank you for your help!

    Iconoclast,
    We tried out your suggestion of switching the theme to WordPress Classic. Same problem – it won’t show anything but post titles. Additionally, in either theme the entire backend dashboard has completely lost the style. It is simply showing us huge black fonts on a white background, aligned completely differently than it should be.

    This was happening for the client 2 days ago, and it is now happening for us. What can have gone wrong? We would be so appreciative of further help.

    Oh, that’s a good suggestion, Iconoclast.
    We will try that next, and post back after we see what happens.
    I really value your kindness in sharing your thoughts on this.
    Kind Regards,

    Following up on this –
    I have just contacted the hosting, and they said nothing has been changed on their end, and if it were a problem with the database/MYSQL we set up with them, we wouldn’t be able to see the blog at all and would be getting database errors.
    The guy said as we can still see the blog, and still see the posts we made in the first few days the blog was up, it is not on the hosting end that this trouble is happening

    I also spoke to the client and we checked to see if she’d been upgraded to IE7, and no, she still has 6.

    So, it does seem that the problem is with the WP blog itself. Please, any thoughts on this would be so appreciated!

    Dear Vkaryl,
    Thank you. I will ask the client if they got upgraded in the past 2 days. We never use IE except to check things. Can you tell me, are there some issues with IE7 that could be causing this?
    I will also contact the host and ask the questions you answered. This is just driving us nuts.

    However there are 2 errors that both I and the client are getting
    1)That the blog is only showing titles, not post content in the two test posts I did yesterday
    2) That error I got, described above, when I tried to write in Firefox.
    We know that we haven’t changed anything on our end. Any help with troubleshooting this would be so appreciated.

    Iconoclast31 – I hear you. On the other hand, when one works with small businesses, budget dictates everything, you know. Are you suggesting that validation errors of the website could be causing this issue with the blog??? Please, reply on that. I’d appreciate it!
    Kind regards,

    Thanks, Yosemite. I appreciate your help. I did try this solution, and got the following error results on the index.php page in the wordpress directory. Take a look:

    https://www.solaswebdesign.net/wordpress/index.php

    I did follow the rest of the directions, and my index. php page looks like this:

    <?php
    /* Short and sweet */
    define(‘WP_USE_THEMES’, true);
    require(‘./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php’);
    ?>

    Any thoughts?

    Dear Yosemite,
    Perfect! Exactly what we needed to know.
    Thank you, and thank you Moshu for the link. What a good article!
    Thanks so much folks.

    Oh- I just wanted to add to this, whooami. The post that you pointed out to us with the div tags… we were just using the ‘write a post’ option to do this. We didn’t code that and are as surprised to see all the div tags as you are. Do you not use the posting option when you add posts to your blog?
    We are just confused, as we haven’t done anything to the theme we downloaded. This is how it appeared on the screen once we’d downloaded it, with the navigation underneath it. So, it isn’t something we’ve ‘done’ to it that’s causing this. Any futher kind help would be much appreciated

    Whooami,
    Thank you for your kind suggestion!
    We will certainly try this.
    Not understanding your shock…blogging, as we’ve said, is a whole new thing for us. I believe I made that clear in my post, that we are new to this form of technology. Though we can program HTML in our sleep, we are new to PHP, and feared that we might do something wrong to the code if we didn’t ask the expert help of people here on these boards, as we were invited to do when we signed up with wordpress.
    We are quick learners, however, and are sure that we will soon become skilled at this. There’s always a first time for everything, and I hope that when you were new here, people were as helpful to you as you are being to us.
    Thanks again.
