    Thank you demetris888

I have just asked Godaddy and waiting for the response. Originally I installed WP through Godaddy, it was simple. But when I moved to VDS, I just downloaded the old files to my computer, then uploaded them. I then restored mysql database.

I never properly “installed” WP. Is this a problem?

    Thanks

P.s. Apologies for posting in so many threads

I have just found that in the phpmyadmin page, when I go to ‘Privileges’, I find that there are 9 databases there, including my own database that i created.

Now under the column ‘Host’, all of the databases have “localhost”. But for database “Any” and my newly created database, the name is “%”

Anyone know if this is a problem? If so how can I change it? Thanks!

Hi Im currently seeing the same message “Error establishing a database connection” when i go to my domain (www.pokermedley.com)

Ive been using Godaddy shared hosting and recently moved to the Virtual Dedicated Server. Ive done everything that was instructed:

    1. downloaded files and uploaded them to my new server
    2. restored mysql database
    3. Changed connection strings in wp-config.php file

I have tried so many things and my site has been offline for many days now.

I am using Plesk control panel

    Possibilities:
    1. Currently my Database hostname is “localhost”, godaddy support confirms this is correct, but maybe its wrong?
    2. in the phpmyadmin there is a message at the bottom: Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.90 differs from your MySQL server version 5.5.20. This may cause unpredictable behavior.
    3. I uploaded too many files? in the godaddy instructions they say only to upload wp-content folder but I uploaded everything…
    4. Shall I delete all the other files that are in the File Manager (the ones that I did not upload)?

Please help, any suggestions are welcomed.
Thank you very much in advance.
