Aw damn, it’s *almost* perfect again. The only thing is that comment buttons disappear again when you expand a thread of collapsed comments.
Maybe I can set up an open subdomain that you can reach and that I can leave the current version of the plugin running on.
Kudos to the team! 5.0.3 works perfectly on my site now! Thank you to all the WP Dark Mode devs!
It mostly works. The only exception being that when someone edits a comment, the ‘save’ and ‘cancel’ buttons lose their button and just become links, but that seems negligible.
I would suggest a test setup with the free version of Customizr theme to try to see the problem, and IntenseDebate for comments, since I’m running the reverted (4.2.9) version.

If that doesn’t show a problem, please let me know.
@mdibrahimk48 What country are you accessing the site from? I’ve already modified the Wordfence (for Bangladesh), but perhaps I have the wrong country? If so, please let me know.
The URL to use is in the first post in this thread. However, as I said before, even if you can access the webpage, you will NOT see the problem because we are using the reverted version of WP Dark Mode (4.2.9).
@mdibrahimk48 I scaled back the geofencing, so you should be able to view the initial URL now. But, we are running 4.2.9, so not sure if it will be helpful.
5.0.1 still does not display the buttons, same as my initial example above. Moreover, now it also removes the Featured Image when dark mode is on.
No problem. None of these things are as simple as they might seem, and we know you’ve got several products to develop and maintain.
Glad to hear it. Not sure WP Dark Mode is going to fix this for a while.
@dominokozmali Did you turn off the automatic updates in the plugin panel? Mine is still using 4.2.9, and everything still works as it did when I first reverted a few days ago. Or there could be some caching going on, either in WP or server tools.
Hi. Thanks for the response. My apologies for the blocking. Thank you for the reply and help.
We’re running WordPress 6.4.3, with theme Customizr Pro v2.4.24, using WP Dark Mode plugin v 5.0.0. The issue developed concurrent with the plugin update installation.
Here’s a sample post with WP Dark Mode toggled off via the switch that appears on a post (in bottom right corner):
And here is the same sample post with WP Dark Mode toggled on. The button background elements are no longer displayed, though the button text still comes through.
Seriously. And plugins that create their own additional update notifications. This is why we have hierarchical menus — to keep every little thing from competing for your attention and organized logically.
I had the same problem, but disabling download permalinks (per the FAQ) solved it:
Go to WP-Filebase Settings, then to the Download section, then select/tick the “Disable download permalinks” checkbox.
