In reply to: 2.3 upgrade –> wp database errorso i rolled back the entire upgrade — dropped tables and imported my db backup, deleted all files and re-uploaded my backups — then went through the upgrade again, this time upgrading to tarski 1.7.1 (2.3 compatible) *before* upgrading wordpress…
…and it worked, perfectly. no idea why the initial problem — maybe the error was being cached somehow?
anyway, thanks for your help.

In reply to: 2.3 upgrade –> wp database errorinteresting — on the “About” page the same error message shows up in the sidebar, just above the categories (which then display below it, normally).
and then, under the about page i get this:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: update_comment_cache() in /home/../../../wp-includes/comment-template.php on line 303
is it a theme issue?

In reply to: 2.3 upgrade –> wp database errortried that already, just forgot to mention. even when i change to the default theme, the error is still there.
when i first click a link i get an all-white page with the error message top left. then, half a second later, the page loads with the error message right at the top, centered. it’s sitting just above the header image.

In reply to: imagelinks have RED borderthanks for the answer. but still no luck.
does it matter where i put the code you suggested? i tried it before, after, and in the middle of the “a” commands on the stylesheet, with no apparent effect…

In reply to: footer off-center, back and forthum. not sure what a “visual rich” editor is. maybe this was posted on the wrong thread?
the problem only started when i had more than 10 posts on the blog. that meant they didn’t all fit on the front page. so there was a second page. you can click between pages using the “next” and “previous” links at the bottom of the page.
now my footer is pushed either to the right or left, depending on which page (1st or 2nd) i’m on. and on the 1st page of 10 posts, the white background column that the main text is displayed on doesn’t end at the bottom where it’s supposed to.
the footer’s text is white, because it’s supposed to be displayed on a dark background. you can see how it’s supposed to look (but still off-center) on the 2nd page, with the “previous” posts.
