Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: WordPress Announcement List: EmailsThank you, Michael. But, as I noted: “I typically mod the admin area to use other RSS feeds”. So, I’m aware of the RSS feeds from various blogs.
I’m asking about the email Announcement List.
One would think that information about the list, how it is used, etc. would be an FAQ somewhere. If it is, I can’t find it.
I searched the forums and found what you shared above. My question is, if it doesn’t work … why is it offered?
Are you sure it never works and is never used? There seems to be confusion about that – based upon responses others have received in the forums.
If it is used, I will truly appreciate answers to questions that help me assure I receive the emails and when/why/how the list is used.
Thank you.
Update: I posted in Extend as you suggested. Thank you.

In reply to: Unable To Edit Widgets After Install of WP 2.1.3OK – even stranger … it now works fine. I didn’t change a thing. I promise you.
Has anyone else had this happen before?
Mark this one [resolved] … but I have no idea how or why it is resolved.
Thanks.

In reply to: Trouble Switching Between Code and VisualForgive me, I forgot to note that there is an update to the Viper Video Quicktags plugin and it works with 2.1.3.
Forum: Alpha/Beta/RC
In reply to: Trouble Switching Between Code and VisualI know this won’t answer it for many people, but when I reactivated the Viper Video Quicktags plugin, my admin area went goofy – like described above. So, that is one conflict with the new 2.1.3. FWIW.
2.1.3 works fine with the WP Default Post Content plugin, which I thought – initially – was causing the problem. But, it works fine now.
Hope that helps someone.
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: What would you like to see in a theme?Any theme similar to Split’s or Nirali’s would be greatly appreciated as a public download.
Selfishly, I would love to see a public theme similar to Soxnest. https://soxnest.com/ … The key being, the theme allows a different way to utilize more widget areas in many more ways.
The banner image would be less than 50% the height of that theme’s image, though. (Maybe even two images, side by side.)
In the section below the banner image, the four most recent posts show only an excerpt. The two sections below that would be 3 widget areas and then three or four widget areas in the section below that one.
To me, that would be valuable theme that many people would be very grateful for … and you would be a hero. ;o)
Thanks for the post. It allowed me to dream.

In reply to: configuration problem with multiple sidebarsFirst, if you try the “Ctrl + -” function on your keyboard, that might work to make it all smaller and fit.
Aside from that, the size of the “dropzones” and text are defined in the widgets.php file in wp-content/plugins/widgets.
If you half (probably too drastic), or decrease incrementally – say by 33%, all of the widths, heights, font sizes, line spacing, etc… you can get everything into the browser window.
There is a CSS section of the file widgets.php.
So, playing with the top section and the CSS section, you can change the widths, heights, font sizes and other options in there to accomplish a much smaller display.
I have done it on one site (with 10 widget dropzones) and, although not a perfect fix, it does make the admin area workable.
** Oh, and backup your copy of the widgets.php file before doing that. :o)

In reply to: after import – blog posts won’t deleteThank you, Kafkaesqui. Good to know.
As for the upgrade, I will have to look at that upgrade again then. Sorry I didn’t save the error message it displayed. When I try it again I’ll post the message, should it reappear.

In reply to: Plugin Request: Subscribe to Category – Notifier and RSSmwsmedia, i went to these URLs on your site and found your RSS feeds for the two categories you have. One is empty, but it seems to work.
https://podcasts.yourdomain.com/podcast.php?cat=TheMWSMediaRadioShow
and
https://podcasts.yourdomain.com/podcast.php?cat=General
so, that should – i guess – work for any other categories you have
hope that answers your question. your feeds seem to already by automatically set (as most wordpress blog seem to be for all categories, now).

In reply to: Yahoo’s context search Y!Q for your blogI like the plugin … got it to work and (I thought) fixed the centering problem, too. But, it still does the centering thing – but only on the post where it is applied. Interesting.
Could this be something in the yahoo javascript that is accessed for the image? javascript/yq.js on line 21?
I posted about it in your blog, brizer.

Thanks. It is a nice little plugin that can add some fun functionality – especially for an education related site.
Great job.

In reply to: Blogdigger GeoURL Local SearchThanks Kafkaesqui.
I see that kind of search having great benefits. However, the big obstacle is the adoption of the meta tag geo info by sites/blogs.
Just another line on a big wishlist. :o) Thanks.
