In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Google Drive Backup FailedSOLVED. I emailed Google Drive tech support yesterday to get the firewall settings and received an email last night that they were having technical issues with Google Drive. Figures this would happen when I just first set up cloud backups! There is no need to have my hosting company change the firewall rules, so I am going to close that request. I tried another backup today and everything worked. Here is Google’s email in the event that others were having problems:

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Google Drive Backup FailedOK, thanks for the reply. I will open a ticket with the hosting company, otherwise I will just nix the whole cloud backup thing and manually copy the files to my local pc.

In reply to: [Vantage] Removing comments from pagesThanks for this. I had only one page that had comments, and it was driving me nuts trying to find this setting.
Well, I was able to get into my website, but still would like to know if the above is possible, as I can see such a scenario coming up in the future. In the meantime I guess I will have to start making cpanel backups more often.
SOLVED. I found another “Can not login” thread and discovered that I was not using the correct login path after viewing the database. What happened was that once I had logged in yesterday I bookmarked the url, not realizing that once you log in to WordPress, the url immediately changes from having the correct slug path to one that contains “wp-admin”, so the bookmark will not work.
I looked at this again this morning and checked the db, but there are no lockouts. I also no longer get a login screen anymore, just the page with the “The page can’t be found” error, even if I clear the browser cache. I see where one person had a conflict with their maintenance app, and mine (WP Maintenance Mode) seems to be working properly otherwise (If I click on anything on that page, the maintenance screen pops up). So, I guess the login took me to the right place, but no dashboard. If I have to go through reinstalling WordPress and everything again from scratch, I need to understand what is causing this so I don’t go through it all again.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] For the second time all data is goneI see. I already removed it. After one of the recent updates removed all the data the first time, I was going to anyway. Also, I am going to wait for Yoast’s plugin to exit beta, which will have Universal Analtyics support, and in addition it has some features that I need that are unavailable elsewhere.

In reply to: [Google Universal Analytics] DemographicsThanks…..Just verifying that Demographics works now. I didn’t bother to see if the custom tracking is working now, as I no longer need it.
Actually, although this is a nice feature and my hosted server does support SSL, I am leary of trying this out in the event that something still goes wrong and I am permanently locked out of my WordPress site. Unless there is a backdoor way in to disable it or reset the password from the server if locked out, then I will not take the chance.
It is probably a moot point anyway, as there will be another SSL bug that will not be detected for yet another 2 years.,

In reply to: [Google Universal Analytics] Can't get code to validateThanks, but how can I be sure in that case that universal is working now?
I was able to validate today on my non-Wordpress website and the Demographics report page showed up, so Demographics are indeed now working in Universal Analytics.
Also, Yoast is working on an updated version to handle Demographics, but according to his blog there are some complications that he needs to resolve with its associated API.

In reply to: [Google Universal Analytics] DemographicsI just saw the other recent post where you state that you are making an updated version of your program with Demographic capability. I still don’t understand why the custom tracker isn’t working; maybe I just don’t understand its purpose. As a side note, validation was not working yesterday for Demographics on my non-Wordpress site, but Google fixed something today and I was able to finally validate.
Isn’t that what the beta version of Google Analyticator does, that was released two weeks ago?

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Stats gone after 3.5.9 updateOK.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Stats gone after 3.5.9 updateA little more information. Although the old site visit is gone (or just not visible), the database has since received a new entry from a user visiting the site, so the new version is at least working.

In reply to: [SlimStat Analytics] Stats gone after 3.5.9 updateI am not sure how much the hosting company gives me in the way of permissions on the hosted server, but I do have command line access, which gives me more flexibility than cpanel does. I only had one Slimstat entry, so personally I don’t care if I restore it or not, but if it will help others. If you give me the command you want me to run, log file name (and its file system location) you want to see, etc., I can give it a try. Can I email you that information?
