In reply to: [Cloudflare] Error on UpdateThere is something weird going on, because on one of my websites the update worked right away, while on the other one I had to perform the update 4 or 5 times before that error message went away and it updated.

In reply to: [Cloudflare] Only compatible up to WordPress 4.1.13Oh OK. Thanks.
My fault, as your plugin is not not the issue. After installing another Google Analytics plugin and having the same issue, I realised it had to be something else. I was not seeing the Google Analytics code in Chrome on all pages, but it was there on Firefox and other browsers. I saw that I could not clear my browser cache in Chrome; F5, ctrl-f5, etc didn’t work, but once I cleared all history, cookies, etc in the settings page, the Google Analytics code appeared everywhere. Not sure why, but possibly a Chrome plugin I have that prevents cookie deletion on my websites in Chrome.

In reply to: Error 481James,
Thanks. You are correct, it appears to be a firewall problem, and I apparently embarrassed my hosting company into helping me on the forums after I did not get any help from their help desk. It turns out that they activated WAF this week and they are now looking into why my site was blacklisted as spamming by a third party monitoring site. I suspected they did something new as I never had problems before. So, it apparently has nothing to do with plugins or server fault limits; the 1st level tech support guy just diagnosed it wrong. Still, useful info about how to get into the website in an emergency, and saving that one in my important docs folder. Will report back with the results in case it helps others.

Thanks for the video. Indeed, there really is no reason to have the two plugins…..I deleted Limit Login Attempts. I checked out the security logs of iThemes security and Brute Force Protection is stopping multiple login attempts.

In reply to: [ReCaptcha Integration for WordPress] 1.1.10 breaks Contact Forms 7?I just noticed that the recapthca was not working today, so I deleted the WP Recaptcha Integration plugin and just used the one that is now built into Contact Form 7……Done. One less plugin I have to update, and worry that it might have security issues.
I have been getting hammered by people trying every possible combination of urls of my website with 404 errors, and yesterday they were able to also find my back-end address, although I was not hacked. Obviously not a foolproof defense method by itself.

In reply to: Lots of 404 errors in security log latelyYes, I have various layers of security employed and keep everything up to date. What I did discover today in my security plugin were some values that I tweaked that will increase the sensitivity to 404 hits and automatically permanently ban abusive sites.

In reply to: [Vantage] Flavicon-Vantage ThemeI chose the “Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator” plugin because it is up to date; I just installed it on Vantage yesterday and it works fine. Although “All in One Favicon” is really popular and may also work, it really bothers me when a plugin has not been updated in 2 years, from both a security and WordPress compatibility standpoint. Of course this is all a bit late, as the original thread is 3 months old.
I finally got it to work today with just checking “I’m not a robot”, even with am email address I had not tested before. As others have suggested, either there was a problem on Google’s end, it has something to do with the number of times you try, or it takes time for Google’s algorithm to kick in. As far as the plugin itself, it works flawlessly on both my Contact Form 7 and WordPress comments form.
Thanks for the information….I figured something was up.
Did you mark this thread as resolved or was that the plugin author? I will give it a little while longer before I also move on, as everything else is working properly.
Just installed this plugin. Same problem…..”word” capthca pops up every time with the new check mark catpthca. I would like to find out if this is working for anyone before I accept that it is Google’s bot detection causing it. I tried different information in the forms, different email accounts, comment form vs. Contact Form 7, etc., but can never get the simple check mark to work.
Fantastic.
Same problem.
