Hi Yani,
First, thanks for a great plugin and being very present in this forum. That’s very good! ??
I also tried a bunch of caladar plugins and this one was also the best I found for my needs. But I echo several of @wpforums’ request. Most important to me at this time is the fact that, the widget shows every day of a multi-day event as a separate entry which definitely should be optional. I’m working on a client site right now and they specifically complained about this.
Setting recurring events at different times for each recurrence is also high on my list. Related to that is the ability to set repeats to any date and not just by preset intervals of x days/weeks/months. I could have an event occurring on one date, the first repeat 2 days later and the 3rd a week from the second occurrence for example. This needs much more flexibility (in the real world, each repeat of an event could also be in a different venue… ;).
All in all, awesome job guys! It seems the plugin is also evolving fast.
I see. I don’t get the pagination issue with Shutter myself though, so you might have another plugin interfering with NextGen and Shutter. I display multiple galleries on the same page, all with Ajax pagination and, with Shutter, it works fine.

I’m actually not using the Lightbox 2 plugin anymore. It’s not updated anymore. On the site I spoke about 9 months ago I uninstalled it and use just Shutter with NextGen.
I’m still looking for the best lightbox type plugin for NextGen as Shutter is a user experience compromise for me but at least it’s functional for now.

In reply to: [Antispam Bee] [Plugin: Antispam Bee] Multisite support!I would like to know that as well. Most of my sites are multisite networks (bilingual sites) and one is a much larger multisite install with 66 sites on the network.
I like that Antispam Bee does not “ping” external servers and would like to replace Akismet with it.
Anyone made a comparison between the two for server resources load?

In reply to: Need a newsletter pluginYes, Gravity Forms does that with its MailChimp addon. It’s not free but is by far the best forms plugin out there. It will save you a ton of time creating forms.

In reply to: Nextgen won't let me do anything due to file permissionsAre you using a roles and capabilities plugin such as Members? Are you logged in as an administrator in WordPres?
That would be awesome Alex and a great addition to an already fantastic plugin!
Thank you for your response!
Thanks for putting this a lot more succinctly than I have ??
But this is not just for Members. User Role Manager and Advanced Access Manager just to name these two also can add new user roles to WP and assign them any default or plugin/theme added capabilities. So Subscribe2 should check if that custom capability is enabled for the current user and if yes, show the page and if no, then check for manage_options.
I hear you.
Without a role management plugin I think you should fall back on the default WordPress roles. Any admin sees everything but even Editors (the next one down) do not get the manage_options capability by default which makes sense. Managing options is an admin kind of privilege. So they wouldn’t see the Subscribers page either.
As for NextGen, I’m not a plugin developer yet so I don’t how it does it but it adds 6 new capabilities to control access to its different admin features. Gravity Forms adds 20 new capabilities and Headway adds 4. Even JetPack adds 1 for WordPress.com Stats (view_stats). Other plugins and themes probably add them too.
That way, you can check if the role the current user is in has your new subscribers_management (or whatever) capability enabled and show them the Subscribers management pages (list and edit) if they do. Access to the main Subscribe2 settings page will keep depending on the manage_options capability.
On a general note, I think that more and more people use WordPress multisite and, since your plugin is the only one that keeps everything within WordPress there’s gonna be more and more people using it and running into the same issues with individual site “owners” on multisite network wanting to access subscribers management while the network admins need to control these owns access to other stuff.
Hi there!
Thanks for the reply!
Indeed, giving the user the manage_options capability did enable access to the Subscribers page but, I’m sure you can understand that on a tightly controlled network, giving some users this kind of access is simply not an option. It gives them access to way too many features I don’t want them to see or modify.
Would it be possible for you in a future update to either, create a setting in the Subscribe2 settings page to select user roles that can have access to managing subscribers? This should include non-default WordPress roles as that is what I’m using and other similar plugins besides Members offer the ability to create roles.
Another option would be to create a new capability. Plugins like NextGen, Gravity Forms and Headway which is my theme all add different capabilities control access to some of their features with a high level of granularity through Members and similar plugins. It works very well. That way, admins could edit certain roles and enable access to subscribers management for only these roles they need to without the need to give them manage_options access which is simply not workable for a lot of multisite network administration scenarios.
What do you think?

In reply to: [ThreeWP Activity Monitor] Error in User-ProfileSame problem here. I do not get any visible error but, when I load my user profile or any user’s on the network, the admin bar is gone and main menu is not working (javascript seems to be broken). I had to deactivate it completely.

In reply to: [ThreeWP Activity Monitor] [Plugin: ThreeWP Activity Monitor] doesn't logOk… just fixed it by deactivating then reactivating the plugin site-wide.
I also see that the old plugin database tables were deleted. Curious to know where the plugin now saves the activity data.

In reply to: Best E-Commerce plugin?Forgot to mention, the membership stuff is not part of Shopp yet but is coming. If you need that quickly, you’ll need to look elsewhere of try to fit in a purely membership focused plugin with it somehow.

In reply to: Best E-Commerce plugin?Hi!
This is of course subjective and requirements vary but, but I have tried a lot of eCommerce plugins and most have left me cold or were downright terrible (despite a lot of hype for some of them…)
The one I finally settled on is Shopp (shopplugin.net). Check this page for features:
https://shopplugin.net/features/
and this one for what they have planned in the next few months:
https://shopplugin.net/updates/shopp-1-2-is-coming/
It’s not free but it’s solid and well supported. I cannot direct you to a site I’ve done with it as I’m working on my first one now. All my local testing has convinced me to get a developer license for it though. The base license is $55 so not a big risk to test it.
Some of the reasons I chose it include the fact that it is localized. I do mostly bilingual sites and some “big names” eComm plugins are not even localized (I don’t mean not translated, not localized at all). That was a non-started for me. Shopp also has an existing addon for Canada Post which was also key for me. Many others don’t. Neither may apply to your needs but for me it’s a sign that the Shopp developers are creating a product that is meant to be useful to as many people as possible.
It also offers over 200 action and filter hooks and available addons for pretty much anything you could need. Give it a go!
