In reply to: Different Background Image on Certain PagesExcellent, looks pretty straight forward, so I’ll give it a go tonight when I get home from work.
I take it I just add it to the functions.php file?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: www.mysite.com or mysite.com?I just found out that you can change it in Settings/General and in WordPress address (URL) add the www. to your site name, then update it.
I also did it to the Blog address (URL) and updated it – it then logged me out, so I logged back in fine.
Thanks to Shane for that tip also, will go and have a look at that.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Hiding the site with a ‘splash’ pageThanks for getting back to me bsutcliffe.
I’ve tried the ‘index.html’ option, but when I visit the site e.g. https://www.mysite.com, you don’t land on https://www.mysite.com/index.html.
I could look at the option of creating the ‘splash’ page using a basic template that doesn’t show any of my intended navigation/content, and making that the ‘Home’ page until I’m ready.
Thanks any way, if you find a simpler approach, let me know.

In reply to: Using lightbox for photo galleryIf you go to you ‘Appearance’, then ‘Editor’ you should find a list of all the php and css files associated with your ‘Theme’. You should be able to add additional content to your ‘header.php’ file. You may need to experiment to get this to work correctly, depending where you have uploaded these files to.

In reply to: Migrating to WordPress from FrontPageI think that if the FrontPage site has been build around a database then it may be possible, but if it hasn’t then you may need to allow/bill some time for building the content into the WordPress cms.
I’d be interested to hear if there was a way as I have a couple of static sites build in Dreamweaver originally.Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: WordPress Theme Design BookThanks Mike, I had a look at this one on the UK Amazon site (less feedback than US site: https://www.amazon.co.uk/WordPress-Theme-Design-Blakeley-Silver/dp/1847193099/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219871415&sr=8-1) and thought it might just do the job. As I’m a newbie to WordPress I think I may give this book a go. Ideally I’m looking at using WordPress to create a cms for a regular site, and not so much a ‘blog’. Cheers, dod
