I’ve tried with 3 dots and with the html code. It seems the same. I think wordpress translate it in the horizontal ellipsis char.
I can’t see it with my crhome but I can copy it and if I past it I can see the horizontal ellipsis char.

If I copy the text I can see …

I’ve seen that the title code in twenty twelve is very different (only 1 line) from twenty eleven and twenty ten.
