In reply to: Reviving the WordPress 2.0 Theme CompetitionTechGnome – My sentiments EXACTLY!
I think it’s a great shame, especially given the amount of time we’ve all already waited (as I already said).
And you’re quite right – the judges shouldn’t be judges if they are so easily swayed by anyones comments.
The Typo & WordPress 1.5 theme competitions (as well as others) have quite happily released themes as they were submitted and I see no reason whatsoever for this competition to have operated any differently.
For goodness sakes, it’s a competition. Not some secretive project.
Kineda, please open up a little. Before more of us lose interest. I, for one, won’t be bothering to check again in a fortnight. I’ve been checking in too often already (and when you don’t reply to comments, it makes me wonder why I bother).
I will check back soon to see the themes in action (not screenshots – what a waste of time that will be) and in my mind at the moment, I couldnt care less who wins or doesn’t. Sadly, I dont care any more. Congrats will be in order, but I wont be interested by the time the results are announced. It’s all taking rather too long.
Why else? Because I won’t have had the opportunity to look over them myself and going by past experience, I certainly won’t be relying on someone elses judgement on who is the greatest and the best.
As TechGnome says, open them up to a ‘Peoples Winner’ – if nothing else, it would be a fantastic opportunity for us mere mortals to give our opinion too – and what’s the betting there would be wildly differing results?

In reply to: Reviving the WordPress 2.0 Theme CompetitionWell, I see that the competition blog has been updated to say the compo is closed.
It would have been nice (not to mention reassuring) if some of the comments and questions left had been answered (including my own). Oh well.
It’s also been confirmed that theres yet another two week wait before we can try out any of the themes – apparently they’ll be available after the judging has been completed.
To be honest, I’d have thought we could try them out when the compo closed for new entries (especially as we all had the date of May 1st thrown at us so often), especially given the fact that we’ve all waited so long already.
Allowing us to play around with the themes would have no impact on the judging and would also allow us to make up our own minds too.
Anyway, yet another delay has just about caused me to lose any interest that I had remaining. It’s really surprised me that hardly anyone else (apart from LaBella) have voiced this opinion too.

So does that mean we won’t see any of them or be able to download them to try out until the 15th of May?
I was under the impression we’d be able to see/download/try out on the 1st.
This is all getting very confusing.

Apologies if this has already been answered.

In reply to: Can’t Insert Original Images in 2.0.2I’ve experienced the same problem. It appears to put the image into the post in the following format:
<img src=”https://sitename.com/wp_dir/wp-content/uploads/imagename.thumbnail.jpg” alt=”” />
The easiest way I’ve found around it is to simply remove the word ‘thumbnail’. Everything is then as it should be.
It IS extremely irritating, but at least it’s an easy solution.
Someone else probably has another solution though.

In reply to: huddletogether theme?Well a ‘thank you’ would have been nice, what with it being Easter and all that.
I wouldn’t even have expected an egg.
Oh well.
Ho hum. I suppose you couldn’t be bothered to say ‘thanks’.

In reply to: huddletogether theme?Talk about lazy and getting everyone else to do your dirty work for you.
But in a rare moment of helpfulness…
It’s called ‘Qwilm 0.3’ and you can download it at

In reply to: [Announce] Donation PluginSo hopefully now someone will give it away for free!
Or ‘suggest’ a donation if they feel it’s good enough.
Which brings me to wonder what happens if someone pays (oops! ‘donates’) to download the plugin and then decides they dont like/want it or it doesn’t work?

In reply to: WordPress 2 Theme CompetitionGreat stuff, Shadow.
It’s nice to see yourself and a couple of other looking to move this forward.
It’d be a real shame to see peoples creativity going to waste.
