    Hi @brenshutt,

I renamed the favicon in order to disable it but this isn’t causing the issue.
Other websites of the webhost are not having difficulties, I asked for server logs but apparently these are very big and difficult to find the redirect lines of my website.

Thanks for the tip concerning Developer Tools. In my case the output is that the install.php is marked in red and I get the “You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/install.php on this server”. Don’t see new info that could lead me to the root of the problem.

Thanks for your help and suggestions! The quest continues ??

    Hi @brenshutt,

Thanks for your reply, I had already found the possible solution concerning uppercase table prefixes as well. In my case the prefix of my tables is simply “wp_” and all tables consequently contain this prefix with no uppercase exception whatsoever. In my database there are no tables named “usermeta” or “inside options”, but I guess not every wordpress website should have these tables.

Moreover when reinstalling a backup of May (which worked for sure) the same issue appears.
Is it then save to say that the cause of the error is not in the wordpress website itself (code, database,…) but maybe something else?
The backup of May was a version when I just changed from http to https, this change worked for sure for some months. Could this nevertheless causing the problem?
Or maybe the cause is webhost related?

    Hey Angus,

Thanks for wanting to help, but I think I found the solution.
The plugin “facebook thumb fixer” was messing up the “page builder” plugin of siteorigin. The build-up of my pages, in my particular case: 3 rows was reduced to 1 row. So all the content (and code) of the 3 rows was placed in 1 row.

Messing up the build-up of my pages made by the page builder plugin also had an impact on how your plugin works. Strangely enough only in Safari.
I’m not 100% sure this is the cause of my problem, but since I’ve deactivated the “facebook thumb fixer” plugin I have no longer the playback problem in safari.

Great plugin Angus & thanks for wanting to help!

    cheers!

    Hi GusRuss89,

At first I used vimeo (uploading and exporting) to compress the original mp4, I didn’t use the other formats (ogg & webm). So I only uploaded the compressed mp4 to the wordpress website. The playback problem already occurred. I thought maybe also uploading an ogg and webm-video would solve the problem. Unfortunately that was not the case.
I also ruled out the vimeo-compression because I also tried the website https://converterpoint.com/ to compress the original video and to convert an ogg- & webm-version of the video. Using these compressed/converted video’s had the same result in safari.
What I also tried is to only use the original mp4, way too big in file size (60mb), but just to test if it had the same bug. The distorted colors don’t appear but the playback stops after 1 or 2 seconds and sometimes half of the videoscreen has one color.
The playback of the uncompressed video in other browsers works without problems.
I also ruled out the options of the plugin like the color overlay and the pause button, but neither that is causing the playback problems in safari.
Also tried another video, similar playback problems in safari.

Do you have other suggestions how to solve this safari-problem?
    thanks in advance!

eventually, installing a new plugin called “autoptimize” fixed the problem, minifying JS, CSS and HTML-code.

    Hi kmessinger,

No I haven’t, I’ll try to test the plugins one by one
And if that’s not causing the issues, switching to another theme.

    Thanks for the tip!
