got it, thanks. now however the thumbnail, no matter what I try makes the text imeadiately after it disappear. why/how is it doing that? looking at the source everything looks fine:

I don’t see “Hope you like it!” or “Category:” everything after that point shows up fine.

thanks coldforged, this works great! I’m finally near where I’d like to be, only thing left is a unique page/post for the home page, any ideas how to do that with WP? I could make one by hand, but I’d rather get everything into WP that I can.

non-tech-city, you could also achieve the same thing by not using the WP navigation. just comment it out of the template, then link to the tutorials section yourself. I’m doing that now, but now I’m off to check out the depth thing.

can’t you do that by simply creating a page for each topic, then add each page below that topic as a child of the topic page? my site currently looks just like your example and that’s all I did. you’ll find the “Page Parent” drop down option on the “Write Page” page.

thanks for the links, I’ll have to play around with those and see if they do what I want. by chance do you know if any of them do exactly what I’m after? just trying to same me some confusion since I’m still a little new to WP.

thanks for the help, but I’m afraid going this route isn’t possible for me right now as it would take too much time that I don’t have. however, this is a big help because I will be going this route once I have some free time.
