In reply to: Help Make Nicer Archives Default To Categories VieMark,
If you click on the link to all archives from the forum https://organicgardensite.com/forum/ (didn’t change the sorted archives link there) you see the date header. Then when you sort it to “categories” it used to put the category header where the date header initially was. Now it sorts but the category header is not there. Just thought I’d make that clearer so you would understand what is happening now. Thanks.

In reply to: Help Make Nicer Archives Default To Categories VieHey no worries at all Mark, I was just trying to see if anybody else had made a similar modification (didn’t want to bug you.)
Hmmm, that works except that I lose the category label above the results. Before, if I sorted on category I got the name of the category above the articles now I get the results but no category “Label”

In reply to: My stuff turns invisibleI think it could be a CSS problem. The March archives show up in Mozilla but not in IE (windows). I think it has something to do with all the transparent and fixed backgrounds going on. Sorry I can’t help ya with it, but I think that might be where to look.

In reply to: Text wrapping images.In IE you’re getting that ugly blue “link” border, you might want to add; img a {border: 0;} somewhere.
Nice job, cute baby!

In reply to: Menu (sidebar) CSS problemsIt all boils down to this;
If you have something to add (implies construction, you know… plus, not subtraction) then do it. Or as my mother used to say “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” Yes, well that is debatable as well.
So, let’s look at the definition of Support:
To bear the weight of, especially from below.
To hold in position so as to keep from falling, sinking, or slipping.
To be capable of bearing; withstand: “His flaw’d heart… too weak the conflict to support” (Shakespeare).
To keep from weakening or failing; strengthen: The letter supported him in his grief.
To provide for or maintain, by supplying with money or necessities.
To furnish corroborating evidence for: New facts supported her story.
To aid the cause, policy, or interests of: supported her in her election campaign.
To argue in favor of; advocate: supported lower taxes.
To endure; tolerate: “At supper there was such a conflux of company that I could scarcely support the tumult” (Samuel Johnson).
To act in a secondary or subordinate role to (a leading performer).
n.
The act of supporting.
The state of being supported.
One that supports.
Maintenance, as of a family, with the necessities of life.
My .02 cents: “A good thing to remeber and a better thing to do, is to work with the construction gang and not the wrecking crew”

~my personal opinion is that this topic has gone WAY off-topic including my own observations, so let’s go over to Anon’s blog and continue this discussion there! ;-)~Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Menu (sidebar) CSS problemsJoe,
I made a mock-up of what I understand you are trying to do. It looks good in IE Mozilla & Opera and validates except for one character in your time javascript. I combined your CSS and the default WP CSS in the head. Hopefully this will help get you over the hump. It’s at https://www.organicgardensite.com/layoutomatic/
I made lots of comments in the structure so you can see where the divs start and end. Hope that helps.

In reply to: Menu (sidebar) CSS problemsIt’s because the sidebar is still being “absolutely positioned” by your CSS. Where do you want the navigation, inside the far right column?

In reply to: Really stupid-easy floating text/pictures hackfor some of us its easier to put in our own css depending on how we want to display it each time.
I agree. I’m trying to make it as easy as I can for my wife who is NEVER going to get proficient in WRITING code, so I am trying to make it easy for her to publish her knowledge and experience, while I take care of the back-end. No pun intended! ??

In reply to: edit the characters for the (more…)Anon, were you telling me to go to index.php and find;
‘<div class=”storycontent”>’
‘<?php the_content(); ?>’
‘</div>’
and replace ‘<?php the_content(); ?>’ with ‘<?php the_content(‘…read more ?’); ?>’
That’s what I would have understood from your answer if I had not found the other solution and posted it before I saw your answer to my post. Is that what you meant?
