I think I may have found one that does what I want.

SEOPress seems to do what I’m looking for and allows me to simply input meta descriptions and keywords for posts and pages. It seems to use the meta description for the home page as the overall site meta description which should be fine.

As noted in my original post, I had been using Yoast. It was fine but it became far too complex and it was virtually impossible to satisfy its criteria for proper SEO.

I shelved plugins for a while and just hardcoded a meta description & keywords into the header.php file, but when the theme is updated those get blown away.

What is this shit? Are these fora no longer monitored/moderated? How does spam like this get in?

I don’t know where the problem lies. I will contact the plugin developer. Didn’t think it would hurt to try here as well.

I’ve discovered the answer. In order for a lightbox plugin to work, the Gallery Block must explicitly be set with the Link to attribute to Media page. This wasn’t necessary in the past, it happened automatically.

I’ve found the answer. The new Blocks architecture requires that a gallery block be set specifically to link to the media page. This was defaulted before.

OK, found it. You have to highlight the actual block and then the Link to option is available. Got it.

I’m sorry, but I’m not seeing a “Link to” option in the plugin settings. Nor am I seeing anything like that in the Gallery settings.

There are several Fancy Lightbox plugins, which one specifically are you using?

Uh…. nope. Installed. Activated. Nada. Doesn’t even work as a lightbox.

I had not contacted the developer of Simple Lightbox, but have now.

I’ll take a look at the Advanced Gutenberg plugin as well.
