In reply to: Bi-Lingual Website – Best Practices?OK, so I would have to install Multisite and then mirror the websites and afterwards translate? Is that about right?
What is the common practice for mulit-lingual sites? Rather subdomain (www.english.domain.com) or rather subdirectory (www.domain.com/en).
I remember that there are plugins for multi-lingual sites or sometimes even themes. How do they compare do the Multisite setup?
Thanks so much,
Philipp

In reply to: Widget "Sign up for Updates"Hi James, thanks a lot..I played around with it and it works. The only thing I am not yet 100% happy with is the layout. The size of the heading for example. Is there anyway I can change that so it fits beter in my text widget with the other info like social media and the search bar? Like a customization of this shortcode or something…. I hope that makes sense hehe.
Thanks a lot.

In reply to: Widget "Sign up for Updates"Hi james,
that’s it, thanks so much. I found it.
One more question. Is there a way to integrate this functionality of subscribing without adding another single widget? I’d like it to add to an existing text widget …. Not sure if that’s possible though …
Cheers.

In reply to: Adsense – Ads not showingHi there,
problem is resolved. I guess it was just the period for Google to crawl the site. There still should have been the replacement image which I configured in Adsense. That one never showed up …. Not sure what the deal was – it only displayed a blank image and I’m sure I configured it right …
Cheers

Hi Cory,
thanks for your reply and your help.
1. Waiting for DNS to propagate – understood
2. re-install the archive with new URL
What exactly do I have to do here? I am not sure how this is done properly?3. Use the mentioned plugin to update URLS – understood
4. Going back to step 1 – you mean to re-installing the archive?
Thanks for the clarification. I really appreciate your willingness to help out.

In reply to: Switch from temp to live URL. ImagesThat’s what I mean. Right now, if yu check out my dev site, you can see a few images like my profile pic and social media icons. These have been uploaded into the mediabank and the url for them right now is the one of the dev site.
If I now import all of my content from wordpress.com, there will be hundreds of more images which will get imported into the media library.
So once I switch over, will this automatically be changed? I am not even sure if I am using the right terms here. Do you guys kinda understand what I mean?

In reply to: Switch from temp to live URL. ImagesHi there,
now I am really confused. I chatted with the Bluehost Support yesterday and they said, that all the image URLs will most probably get updated with switch / redirect and no work has to be done afterwards.
What’s right here? I don’t want to mess with Duplicator if I don’t have to because it seems fairly complex and I am not a tachnical (as you guys can probably tell by my questions here ??

In reply to: Switch from temp to live URL. ImagesSo I take it by doing the above three steps, the image URLs will still be the ones used on the dev site and not change. Is that correct?
For example the image of me on the top of the sidebar has the following URL now: https://69.195.124.244/~escapol1/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Foto_neu.jpg
After the switch it should probably be this: https://escapology.eu/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Foto_neu.jpg
This I will have to do manually or will it be done automatically after I pointed my URL to Bluehost?

In reply to: Switch from temp to live URL. ImagesHi there,
the link confuses me more than anything else. And it doesn’t really relate to the specifics of my question. To my knowledge, I need to do the follwong steps.
1. Import content
2. Switch nameservers at registrar
3. Change URL in the WP Admin Panel via SettingsThe question is, if this ensures that the pictures I am currently using on my dev site will be properly displayed afterwards or if I will have to manually change them.
Thanks for your help, Philipp

In reply to: Transferring blog from wordpress.comHi Joseph,
I came across one more thing which you might also know.
If yu like at my development site at https://69.195.124.244/~escapol1/ you can see that the graphics I incorporated are linked via this development URL. I uploaded them via the media library.
If I know switch over and change the nameservers, will the graphics still be displayed properly? I mean, the new URL will be https://escapology.eu. Or will I have to re-upload all the graphics again and change the URLS of them?
I hope you get what I mean.
Thanks a lot once more. Philipp
Thanks Brian, will do!
