esmi, thanks for that. I have tried to find code using file manager in my cpanel but have not been successful. However I did find the code below. Does this throw any light on the issue?

I think I have got to the bottom of this. In answer to another question about pasting stuff in in general Saildude said:

“Pasting is not an issue IF you use one of the two boxes to paste text into – 2nd row of the menu just above the text – picture of a small clipboard – one has “T” for Text – turns anything into plain text (strips out formatting) and “W” pasting from MS Word – supposed to save MS Word formatting – I don’t use MS Word so never used the “W.”

Pasting directly into WordPress from a word processioning program can give other than intended results “

First thing is that to see the second row of the menu I had to click on the show kitchen sink icon in the first row.

The you can then choose to paste in as Word or plain text. No duplication occurred.

To recreate duplication I pasted in directly from Notpad ie ignoring the 2T” and “W” options. What happens when you look at what you have pasted in via the html tab the you have 2 copies – one with the html code and one without

I have just done an experiment

I have set up a new post and find that I can edit text I type in and can also edit (ie insert blank lines with “Enter”)text pasted in directly from Word. Also no problem with text pasted in from Notepad.

I have just noticed that I have been editing in the html not the visual tab. This time html editor shows normal text rather than html!!!!

I have looked back at the post composed intitally of pasted in text from Notepad and see thet in the html editor it still shows code not ordinary text.

Does this make any sense?

I have put the cursor at the end of a line of HTML, pressed enter twice. The spaces show between the lines of html, I press update and have a look at the published page. No line / para spaces show.
When I go back to the html page they have gone from there as well.

When I go to the HTML editor I see lines of code which I do not understand.

How ado I add a blank line to some text in the editor so that the change will publish OK

I am having the same problem. When I past text into the Post editor the body of the post is duplicated.

Does that mean you cannot carry out simple editing tasks like putting in a blank line without knowing HTML ?
