Thanks for the tip, however, problem persists.

I have multiple domains hosted in one cPanel. So my in my file tree I have public_html and then multiple sites listed. I deleted the .htaccess in the public_html folder and also in the website folder for the wordpress blog. Then I navigated to permalinks page which recreated the .htaccess.

I checked permissions: wp-content/uploads is 744 and files saved in there (eg. uploads) are 644. Thanks for any further insight.

David, thank you for your prompt response. I did as instructed and the plugin came back with all my settings. Thank you again. What a great plugin!

    David,

I think I have a similar problem. What do you recommend to manually reinstall updraft and make sure it backs up to dropbox?

I updated 6 plugins tonight simultaneously – I do not know which ones. I suspect updraft was one of them. My website stopped loading and I had to rename the plugins folder to plugins.hold and then delete the .maintenance folder. Once in, I was lucky enough, after refreshing the page a few times, to see the error “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 167081 bytes) in
    /functions.php on line 252″

I got worried and went to restore my backup from updraft plus. I noticed two strange things:

    1. UpdraftPlus no longer showed up in my list of plugins at all. I tried to install the plugin again, but when I did so, the install attempt failed, explaining that the folder already existed.
    2. I logged into FTP and noticed that updraft had a more recent backup then what had been sent over to my dropbox. So I downloaded that into my dropbox account.

I came to this post and saw your comment on memory limits, so I called Godaddy hosting support and they increased my php.ini limit from 64MB to 256MB. Instantly, my website started loading in its entirety (albeit – more slowly).

Updraft still does not show up anywhere on my plugins folder
I opened the updraft log and found:

@LynnandChad: I had changed my default posts page a while back.posts page was listed as ” – select – “. Problem solved.
@adiant: thank you for the suggestion. When I said that I ‘deleted’ the page I didn’t actually delete any posts or anything of value, I simply removed the wordpress structure that stuck posts onto a webpage
