In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!For t31os_ and anyone else following this thread it appears that it was a Windows Server issue. I’ve now ported https://www.debendoubles.org.uk/ to my Linux Server (I am lucky that I have both!) and the issue has gone!
Now loads quickly and finishes quickly! The control panel is now useable whereas before I had to wait 6 seconds before I could edit a post, now it’s just there! Great! ??
Thanks again t31os_ for your help and support and one to make a mental note of!
Cheers,

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!Ah, good call… When renaming to PHP it does INDEED show the same problem meaning it’s the PHP being the issue! Good call and one I must admit I wouldn’t have thought of!
https://www.debendoubles.org.uk/debentest.php
I am actually in the process of setting up a Linux server to test this with so will see if that solves the problem but VERY interesting about the PHP and will definitely see what they have to say. They’ve already hinted that their Windows servers aren’t really geared up for PHP etc and that I should look at their Linux servers (which I am doing).
Thanks again and will post again when I have an update (next day or so).

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!As an aside what do people think about me installing some caching plugin as this would:
a) Be a good test to see if a cached page might load quicker?
b) Help speed it up generally? How good are they at detecting change of content and refreshing and not serving up old content? I am wondering if a cached version might get served quicker and if not might point to a possible lead?
Thanks,

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!Hmmm, tried that and still the same…
I am guessing it must be something to do with my host because I’ve tried setting up a couple of other BLOGs in domains I have (same host) and they all exhibit the same problem. Even out of the box…
I did a manual install of v2.9.2 but will try running their own auto-install of an older version and see if that is any better and then maybe upgrade?
In the mean time any other suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks again t31os_ for all of your help and suggestions and it’s certainly an odd one! Hope you had some luck at poker tonight and I’ll post back to this page if / when I have a solution and if not then I’ll still post just saying that I’ve given up! ??
Many thanks,

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!They said that I cannot directly access via IP unless I change to a dedicated IP address (as it’s on a shared hosting account) so that link is the best I’ve got I am afraid.

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!They’ve come back saying that:

Should bypass the DNS but haven’t provided me with the actual direct IP address combination? Is this sufficient?

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!I’m checking with my host provider to get the information to access the site bypassing the DNS as I can’t seem to find any reference in the control panel / documentation etc.
As soon as I have any information I’ll post back here!
Thanks again t31os_ for your continued support, it’s much appreciated!

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!I am still seeing considerable delays (using Ctrl + F5 to do full refresh) and it’s the blank “process” of 5 seconds I don’t understand.
As I say the page itself loads very quickly and I am happy that WordPress is generating the page snappily, it’s just the dead time on the browser that is getting me?!
I’ve posted another image of Firefox now using the site with default theme and no plugins still showing 5.8 seconds to page loaded although the HTML was actually visible and useable after 683ms?!
New screenshot:

I’ve removed ALL plugins and reverted back to the default template. The delay is still there if you follow my previous link: https://www.debendoubles.org.uk/links/. Will leave the site like this for the rest of the day to see if anyone can come up with some ideas?
There are NO Javascript queries and this is using the default Kubrick style now?!
This is a real head scratcher!
Thanks again for having a think on this one!

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!Thanks for the heads up. I had actually REMOVED the script.js from the template but it didn’t make a difference so I added it back. For now (it’s not essential for my theme) I have removed it again until I can resolve the issue to ensure it’s not compounding any problems. If you could take another look you’ll see it still takes 5 seconds after load?
I am not sure if the queries are an issue as the page loads very quickly and even then 0.338 seconds should be ok? It’s just the 5 seconds of pause AFTER the page has been sent to the browser and rendered that is confusing me?
I’ve updated the site without the script and the delay is still persistent. It’s almost like the browser is waiting for something (I have no idea what) and then after 5 seconds finishing?
Thanks again t31os_ and any more ideas?!

In reply to: Long delay before DOMContentLoaded is fired?!I should add that the server (hosting by PipeTen) is running PHP v5.2.10.
The admin screens also exhibit the same issue where they take 5 seconds to become fully active. This is again without any plugins or themes so seems to be just the WordPress install?
