I am currently using miniBB in conjunction with WP, and it works in a satisfactory manner, specially in the template area.
It should be possible to share the login information between the two installations but I haven’t had time to look at how yet ??
I’d recommend checking out what Matt’s doing.

I tried installing the updated threaded comments on top of the previous installation of threaded comments. And now the comments aren’t threaded anymore.
