I came here to complain about the same thing. I don’t understand why things get “fixed” that aren’t broken. They are changed for change’s sake and it just makes it worse, less usable and less convenient.

The entire hyperlink interface is terrible now. When you go to insert a new link, there’s no enter or confirm button so you have to press Enter to set it. Why remove the redundancy? And now, getting to the new tab/nofollow/sponsored options takes three clicks instead of one. Then there’s some kind of awkward spacing going on so it just looks aesthetically worse than it did before.

Here’s another thing I noticed: when you type something in the link field and it populates posts and pages that match that input, it used to show the whole title. Now, the titles are TRUNCATED so sometimes you don’t even know what it refers to. What goes through the mind of WP devs when they make these senseless changes?

I just wanted you to look at the front-end code and see if there’s anything wrong there. If there isn’t, then it’s probably a visual glitch in the backend.

Can I get a response please?

I got a response from the theme developer that they’re working on a fix. Thanks. I do hope that we’ll still be able to add LABELS to widget blocks like we could in the old editor.

So you’re saying this is purely a theme issue?

    Schema.

The solution provided here (https://amethystwebsitedesign.com/button-alignment-in-wordpress-5-7/?cn-reloaded=1) worked for me. A million thanks to this person because I would have been in the dark otherwise.

I was hoping that this issue would be fixed in the 5.7.1 update, but it seems it was not. So, now I have to add a custom CSS band-aid to fix this issue. I should NOT have to permanently add custom CSS because a WordPress update has made a previous feature (buttons) obsolete. Some websites have hundreds or even thousands of pages — they can’t just go back and edit every single one because a WordPress update broke a previously working feature.

Over a month, and not one person has stopped by to help with this issue. Unbelievable.

Most of my buttons are using code from an old version of Gutenberg that doesn’t look the same as that.

You’re a developer. If there isn’t already a GitHub page for this, maybe we could start one. Hopefully this is something that will be fixed for the 5.7.1 update.

Amazing that it’s been over a week and not one person has popped in to shed some light on this. This is a serious issue that can have a major negative impact on conversions.

How exactly are non-developer WordPress users supposed to go about fixing something like this? Theme support?

    Thread Starter Paul

    (@pbgeneral)

    Probably.

Can someone provide some clarity here? Does the code “class=”wp-block-button aligncenter” no longer work?

    (@pbgeneral)

Now all of the buttons on all of my websites appear uncentered. I’m not a web developer at all and have hardly any clue about writing code.

Is there a GitHub page on this issue? What is the best fix? I normally just use Custom HTML blocks to add my buttons because I find the Button blocks clunky, not to mention they add extra space underneath that I don’t want.

I don’t know if this is related to theme compatibility or is an issue inherent to 5.7. Can someone help us out?

    Thread Starter Paul

    (@pbgeneral)

Update: I’m now seeing the buttons centered on the page I linked, although I didn’t before, even after clearing all caches and cookies. The buttons also appeared uncentered on another device.

However, on another one of my sites with the same theme, when I create a button in the Gutenberg editor and “center-justify” it, it doesn’t appear centered in the live view (preview, so can’t link it).

So, I don’t know if these are visual glitches or what.

This is one example where the buttons don’t center in the live view: https://petcitadel.com/best-dog-beds-for-large-breeds

Please note that I’m not a developer or overly techie.

Another thing to add: Gutenberg buttons are basically broken now. I don’t know if my theme needs to come out with a compatibility update for 5.7, but:

    – on one of my themes, buttons do not center properly
    – on another one of my themes, buttons are completely broken: they can’t be arranged horizontally and justify content doesn’t work at all
