In reply to: Error establishing a database connectionHere is a reply from my hosting provider which kind of says that my database seems or was ok for https://lagiraudiere.com/blog/
Dear Paul,
Thank you for the update.
It looks as if some of the files, most notably the ‘wp-config.php’ file have become corrupted and a lot of the code has been truncated onto one line. The database itself appears intact so I suspect that WordPress will need re-installing into the ‘blog’ directory in order to resolve this issue.
If you have recently added a plugin or theme to this blog then that might be the culprit behind this corruption.
Kind Regards,

Namesco LimitedI did not add anything I simply updated. So if I reinstall wordpress how does the new instalation pick up the existing database or do I have to take a backup of the existing database and if so how do I do this?

In reply to: Error establishing a database connectionThank you yes been working on this for over a month now and just seem to be going around in circles all started when I updated to the latest version might just be coincidence but since then problems with images followed by data base errors followed by blank white screen and now back at data base errors.
Could I just reinstall it without loosing the images, posts and pages ?

In reply to: Error establishing a database connectionHey thank you for your help I have raised a support note with my hosting provider for which I await a reply,
I have double checked the config file with the database and I think they are correct; here are the results minus the password which I would appreciate it if someone could confirm that all is good with these,

https://lagiraudiere.com/blog/Good evening,
Just following up on yesterday and yes I changed the file and nothing happened would like further help if someone is in the forum as to what to do next
regards
paulHi I have changed the file with one I had on my computer but still no change. Not sure if the copy I had was in fact a copy of what was already on the server.
Should I download a new copy from wordpress tomorrow. Thanks for your help this evening unfortunately need some sleep after a very frustrating day on the computer.
Will re start posts again tomorrow evening after work
PaulOk sorry about the sensitive info was not thinking, have deleted the post and also changed the password via phpMyAdmin but as I said I think the DB_NAME, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD and DB_HOST are as I would exspect them to be.
Thanks I transfered the file over via FTP to my computer and opened it using notepad+ and here are the results;
I think or presume these are fine how should I check they are correct?
Thank you for your post, when you say check I presume you mean open up the file on the server via my ftp and if so what do I use a simple text editor or notepad+ ?
sorry to ask what may be an obvious question but a little new to this.
