Thank you Daan
I appreciate your replies. I simply haven’t had the time to invest in optimising again. The time will come and I’ll return to this post and have another go.
Thank you so much for your time.
PaulBy turning off “Async JavaScript” & deactivating OMGF my fonts displayed correctly.
I’ve continued to problem solve OMGF. I found that once I deleted the Google fonts external stylesheets I didn’t get any fonts served locally (visually and looking at the Gmetrix waterfall of files – no .woff shown). Even though they are listed on the OMGF settings page. I’m not sure what to try next to problem solve.
Thanks.
I think the problem is the “Async JavaScript” plugin I recently installed. I’ll need to exclude the OMGF script from that probably. I’m working on it.
Thank you for the idea. How did you do that – change the Cache file names? The cache plugin doesn’t appear to have that option. Did you write extra code?
I still don’t understand the cause… hard refresh works on Chrome, refresh doesn’t. The css file, if it works once, should work the second time using the browser cache version. Or does the hard refresh pull from the server and a refresh from the CDN. However, I purged the Essential plugin cache, server cache, and CDN cache, in that order.
All a bit strange. I’ve just checked my mobile and its working okay now. But my 2nd office computer in Chrome requires a hard refresh every time!
The page is displaying correctly now on every refresh. But after 2 days of problem solving I’m not sure how I did it. If anyone has any clues as to how things got stuck in only the Chrome cache, I’d appreciate any ideas. Hopefully I don’t need to touch the image accordion block again, it looks so good!
It sounds like I have the same problem with WP Fastest Cache and the Image Accordion, in Chrome. I need to do a Ctrl+F5 on Chrome to see the images, then next F5 refresh no images. However, it works okay in Chrome incognito mode and on Firefox & IE. I’ve tried multiple computers.
Inspecting the source code on Chrome, the image links are all there and accessible when loaded in another tab.
I haven’t found a workaround yet that continues to work. If I turn off my local cache and CDN cache and clear the Essential cache – it works, but only for one page refresh in Chrome. Only by clearing the Essential cache or using Ctrl+F5 do I see the images in Chrome – but only for that refresh. So I’m not sure my problem is a cache plugin. It’s something to do with the Chrome cache and the Essential Add-on. And my install? Other conflicts?

In reply to: [WP Fastest Cache] Switched to WP Fastest & its not workingI do have a cache going again. I think the cause was a setting in the itheme security plugin that stopped the writing to a WP Fastest Cache settings file. Thank you for the support.

In reply to: [Autoptimize] css & js not combiningI’ve just realised that this is version 2.3.4 now. So this behaviour has just changed.
Now it makes sense.
Thanks.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Autoptimize] css & js not combiningThank you for testing.
I can see now that they are preloaded ccs files for other pages! They weren’t there before. Not sure how I turned that feature on!
I’m also trying to find out why the browser caching isn’t working. I’ve checked the .htaccess file and there is nothing related to the cache. There is no .htaccess file in wp-content/cache/
…Oh, may have found solution to the .htaccess … turned off iThemes Security settings – Disable File Editor & Protect System Files, then reinstalled AO. Now I have an .htaccess in cache created by AO.

Phew.
One hour later and my site is up again, by itself. Not sure what happened then! It was immediately after doing the smush compression.
Thanks, PaulForum: Plugins

The CCS addition to the theme customizer works a treat.
