Me too. Although my background has been tech support.
Go if your hosting for your site is Go-Daddy you need to go to the website
Top right is login
Once you have logged in to your Go-Daddy account click on the support link in the Nav bar.
near the bottom of the page is contact us online click on that
Choose product support and other from the 2 drop downs
Then at the bottom you have submit a ticket
next page opens and you should have most of the required information filled in.
All you need to do then is state that you are trying to use form mail but the mails are not arriving with your mail host and ask them to make configuration changes to the server to allow you to send mail using remote mx records.
reference my ticket and they may be able to look it up to know what to do.

The way I resolved this is above. I logged a ticket with Go-Daddy support and told them my mail mail was hosted externally and form mail was not working.
They then changed a config in the backend and now it works
my ticket number is also above which you can reference with them to get it resolved for yourself.

Hi anyone who views this question. I have now resolved my issue. I emailed go-daddy support the response I got was
“I have made configuration changes to the server to allow you to send mail using remote mx records. Can you please attempt to send mail from your form once more?”
I asked them if this was something I could have done myself and they replied
“This is currently a change that we have to make on the server side regarding local/remote mx records. Our developers understand that this functionality being included on the customer facing interface is in high demand and they are working to provide a stable implementation. At this point, if you have further domains that you would like to use remote mx records on, feel free to reach out to support until we are able to provide a method that allows you to make those changes.”I guess this is the same for all go-daddy customers. So if anyone needs it my support ticket number was 21268986.
