i have copied the code you mentioned above to my custom CSS

.menu {
background-color: white;
background-image: none;
}

but it has made the text on my menu fuzzy/blurry looks almost embossed is there something missing?

sort of i think its cause i used a table and messed something up. Seems to be working ok for now

for me it turned out to be an issue with a google maps plugin that was installed. I deactivated it and everything works, so I replaced it with another plugin and all works.

As you have already tried deactivating plugins perhaps you could check your widgets too. Also have you tried using a different theme to see if you still have the same issue?

Someone else on another thread also suggests clearing the cache in Dashboard if you have caching on.

Same for me tried clearing cache, changing template etc nothing seems to work

I had this problem, found my issue to be the host of my domain not enabling remote MX records.

Mine was go-daddy but could be the same for other hosts
