That update seems to have fixed it….

    All working now.

I’ve noticed the same thing…Yoast inserts the correct Open graph images on some of my sites but not all. On one site the correct menus don’t even show up.

So indexing resumed now that PageFrog is disabled.

Clearly the problem is due to a conflict with PageFrog.

Restoring the older version of the Yoast SEO plugin did not fix the problem. Clearing the cache didn’t fix the problem.

The specific problem was when I try to view an AMP page by adding “/amp/” to the end of the url it simply redirected back to the original url…rather than giving me a 404 like it would normally if AMP pages didn’t exist. I thought this had something to do with the “redirect ugly url” feature in Yoast but it didn’t seem to have any effect.

The only way to get the problem fixed was do disable AMP on all (thousand plus) pages of this site in the PageFrog settings and then deactivate PageFrog. Just deactivating PageFrog didn’t work…I had to wait for it to disable itself across every post on the site….then deactivate it.

It turns out that PageFrog users have experienced this problem before but the only thing I can’t figure out is why the problem manifested when I updated the Yoast SEO plugin. I have other (smaller) sites set up this way and they didn’t have this problem.

So…to make things stranger…I then reactivated PageFrog (after updating Yoast again) and tried enabling it on a couple pages…it worked! So why?

Anyway, going to leave PageFrog disabled for a while and wait to see if indexing resumes.

Hate to resurrect this old thread but this problem sill exists.

I had AMP working just great, indexing, no errors, etc….

Then…suddenly, the redirect thing happened overnight and /amp/ stopped working. Webmaster tools showed my amp page index rate dropping rapidly as all of my pages simply redirected to the non amp version. PageFrog showed everything was working normal and the amp previews worked well enough but those were just previews and the regular /amp/ pages simply didn’t show up anymore.

The only thing that I had done the day the indexing stopped was update Yoast SEO(v3.3.2 from v3.2.5). Restoring the older version of Yoast did not fix the problem. Clearing cache didn’t fix it…the only thing that fixed it was to disable Pagefrog plugin and then /amp/ pages showed up again.

Going to leave PageFrog disabled for a few days at least and check if indexing resumes. Looks ok in dev.

BTW….another site I have set up in a similar manner did not experience this problem….yet anyway.

So this is resolved….I checked and my pages are now starting to index properly as AMP in Webmaster Tools.

I haven’t seen the results of index yet…that will take a few days, but the dev tools shows AMP validation successful.

If you don’t have access to the CP (Control Panel) of the server, you need to contact the server admin or customer support and have them remove any Google Analytics from the server CP. If you do have access you can log in and find the analytics tools and uninstall it. This has nothing to do with WordPress, it’s at the server level.

Here is the specific line that seems to be giving me trouble….

    <script src=’/google_analytics_auto.js’></script></head>

This is the only instance of Google analytics I can see on the AMP page

Edit….just found what caused this….it was anayltics integration in the CP of the server…went in there and turned it off…now it’s gone. Hopefully this solves the issue.

Just annoyed at the time I wasted trying to hunt down an error that was ultimately so far into the backend I had to go into the server CP to fix it.

it is the wrong plugin….not sure how that happened. Sorry

I checked this guy’s site above and he seems to have fixed the issue but mine isn’t fixed.

My site does this same thing. How do you fix it? Or is it just a security issue with .htaccess to prevent people from browsing the site map?

I’m using a customized lifestyle theme. I’m still using the plugin but feel i’m held hostage because I can’t disable it or uninstall without breaking my site’s functionality. I looked briefly thought the code but couldn’t figure out the problem. Given enough time I can but time is precious and I don’t have any more to spare right now.

I had the same problem with my theme. Did you figure out what you needed to do to repair the theme template after uninstalling?

    Thread Starter paul509

    (@paul509)

Well…at least I figured out why the plugin was not displaying related posts correctly using thumbnails….it turns out the plugin needs certain access to the wp-content folder which was restricted by a modified .htaccess file.

YARPP is the only plugin that was unable to function under the tighter security.

I still can’t solve the problem of uninstalling. This plugin, when installed, seems to rewrite certain parts of the theme and when uninstalled, it breaks the theme.

And yes….I disabled the plugin first then performed a clean uninstall.

I hope this plugin doesn’t present a security problem. I would caution against it’s use with certain themes. Since I customize the theme I can’t just re install the theme and using backups doesn’t seem to help.
