Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress on Godaddy unbearably slowI have a few GoDaddy accounts. My one account with, Deluxe Shared hosting is fine. I’ve used almost all 25 mysql databases on wordpress installs, and run about 20-30 seperate sites off the one hosting plan.
However, A client asked me to build a wordpress site for them, and i RECOMENDED godaddy. WOOPS. They got the economy shared hosting, and from the start its been slow. Recently its taken 11-15 seconds to pull up the home page. Upon calling customer support, they told me its a problem with my ISP, and maybe I could call back again to get some help doing a traceroute to help diagnose. I quickly did a traceroute and found out that it was hopping past my ISP, to secureserver.com and got lost in space there. the woman would not help me, so i asked to speak to her supervisor. she then told me: “okay… why do you want to speak to a supervisor?”
“because im not happy with the service im getting.”
“he’s going to tell you the same thing i did.”
“i dont mind, i’d like to speak with him”
“well, fine, the wait is really long though, it could be 5-8 minutes”
“that’s fine”and the supervisor didn’t help me either. Its my fault, and I should call my ISP, and ask them to correct the problem. i’m sure the lovely people who provide my internet service are going to go out of their way to diagnose their dns issues.
I also did a reverse ip lookup, and found 4,142 sites hosted off the ip i am on.
i think i may be on the switching bandwagon as well.
if you are godaddy and want to contact me, please
email, [email protected], i don’t want to put my clients url here.
