So no-one helping so far.

Looking at the sql in Notepad+ there seems to be a problem with the ‘ character for instance I\’ll upsets the pairing. Also some of the plugin html seems off e.g. ‘<div class=\”rss-widget\”>

I can’t tell if this is a problem with Notepad+ or an issue with the exporting char set perhaps. Can someone please advise?

If you look at the page you’ll see a lot of space above the form fields. Any absolute positioning seems to upset the background ‘container’ and trying to move, say ‘Name’ up by using css (top:-35px for example) seems to have no effect.

Yes, thats exactly when it happens. I’d forgotten about that, been a while since I created a new site I guess.

Because there ARE folders created by creating a new site.

I guess Better WP Security is in the frame though since I just installed it last week. The issue is, ok files have changed, I didn’t change them, the site seems ok – now what should I do?

Probably because it was so dumb, no-one answered this.

So I will – I had edited single.php to only show the header. I had done this before I understood how beneficial a child theme was.

All part of the learning experience.

Thats fantastic many thanks. I also experimented and with a negative margin moved the search box up so as not to affect the header line spacing. I presume that was a good idea? I am a programmer but have only tinkered at the edges of html and php so thanks for the tips.

Thanks. Any issues would be pretty fundamental I’d have thought and it all seems fine aside from some specifics (like erratic permalinks)

Thanks. I had the child themes named like that so they didn’t get lost in the list of installed themes and reflected the order on my sites menu. Is it really a problem? Really just lanning for the future when I might have a lot more. Thanks for the ideas for firebug too, they helped finding the class immensely
