In reply to: [Posts in Sidebar] Short Code — Exclusions & Multiple BreaksHello Signor Latino,
Thank you again for a great support. With the shortcode CSS ID selector, it will really become a very powerful plugin.
Now, I am testing out the “Page Builder’ plugin to insert PIS widget on a test page. It seems to be doing a perfect job (the PIS widget, when inserted on the page this way has its own ‘edit’ tab – clicking on it takes to PIS’ ‘getting the posts’, ‘displaying the posts’, and custom CSS page. But, here all the items/fields show up as a long list rather than being organized the way you have set it up on PIS’ own widget (when inserted in the sidebars directly).
While putting the CSS there, the “ID selector is always the “#temp” for all the instances of the PIS widget – Is there a way to have a separate ID for each instance?
Also, will it also be the same id (#temp) on all the different pages?
Thank you for all your help.

In reply to: [SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle] Widgetize PagesHi Andrew,
I installed the Page Builder on one of my sites and tested it out on a ‘Test Page’. Seems to be working perfectly. Very clean and elegant!
As for styling the rows, is there a way to put some custom css (like putting a border in between the rows – not the all-around ‘border’ as it is provided within the row editing)?
Thank you.

In reply to: [SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle] Widgetize PagesHi Andrew,
Thank you so much for your quick response to my query.
I went to your Page Builder plugin page – it seems to be amazing!
– Now, does clicking on the ‘Add Widget’ tab brings on all the available widgets?
– If I use a static ‘page’ to show the relevant posts there, I just add the widget (say, Posts in Sidebars). The PIS widget then should act as if it were inserted in a sidebar – opening up its own dialog page. Am I right?
– By the description on Page Builder’s page, one should be able have multiple instances of adding widgets, text editor, etc, etc?
If it does work that way, then I can say that you a great one!
I will wait for your answers before I install it and test it out. I will give you my input on it.
Thank you again for taking time to look into it and providing a great support.

Hi Poonam,
Thank you for reaching out – somehow, I hadn’t received the email notification (from WP) of your first response.Anyhow, for the tables, I found another plugin – and, for the charts, I taught myself calc (librefoffice). It works like a charm!
Thank you.

In reply to: [Data Tables Generator by Supsystic] Not What it SaysHello Supsystic Team,
Thank you for asking for my input as to why I find the TablePress a better plugin.
To give you a perspective, I am pasting below my review of the ‘TablePress’ that I have posted on that plugin’s page – It will give you all the input that you asked for. Here it is:“TablePress is certainly one of the best table maker plugin for the?WordPress?publishing platform. It is a well thought, well designed, well coded, highly versatile, and complete plugin that gives the user complete control in styling, appending, manipulating, and updating the tables.
Working with the TablePress is very intuitive: data can be entered either manually or via uploading a CSV, HTML, JSON, XLS, or XLSX file. Rows, Columns, cells, or any element of the table can be targeted via simple CSS from within the ‘Plugin Options’. Tables / elements can also be manipulated individually or as ‘groups’ by declaring them in the ‘Extra CSS Classes’ field (from within the ‘Plugin Options’ page).
Documentation of the plugin is also well thought out – clear, concise, and complete. No gimmicky and distracting graphics. Neither there is any ambiguity or misinformation.
On top of it all is the amazing support from the plugin Author/Developer, Tobias. He states that he is a PhD student in the field of “Engineering Cybernetics”. And, this well thought plugin testifies to it. It is the work of someone who is accustomed of doing thorough PhD grade Research and Thesis work – clean, clear, and bug free.
He responds quickly to any valid request for help. His ability to provide help and support to the users shows his depth of knowledge in the field of web development and the WordPress framework itself.
Plugin is completely free. He requests a ‘donation’ of $9 for the ‘TablePress Extensions’ that provide some extra ‘responsive’ functionality features. I have not tried it, so no comments on it. The only thing I can say is that the author of the plugin is upfront – TablePress by itself is a very useful, complete, and fully functional plugin.
My salutes and thanks to the author, Tobias, for giving us a very useful and elegant plugin.”
Wishing you all the Best.

In reply to: Theme Editor cannot save changes in style.css fileHi Stef,
Thank you for looking into it and taking time guide me.
But, I don’t agree with your suggestions. Of course we put smaller CSS addition in ‘Additional CSS’ – But, for the deep styling we do in our child-theme. That is the best way – Or it used to be until the Theme Editor got this bug.
BTW, WordPress forum is bustling with comments and complaints of this same issue. Different users are suggesting different remedies.
Also, why FTP? Why not simply upload the file (via Cpanel etc)?
Anyhow, thank you again for your help.

In reply to: [Data Tables Generator by Supsystic] Not What it SaysHello Supsystic Team,
Thank you for responding and promising to fix your description of the plugin to clearly state what is available as ‘Free’ and what feature are the ‘Premium’ ones. I have updated my review to reflect it.
BTW, I have deleted your Plugin from my site as I have found a much better one (TablPress) – you may want to look into it. It is amazing – well thought, well designed, and superbly executed. It is what one could expect from the work of a PhD in Cybernetics.
Hope others will find yours’ the same way. We all appreciate the work of developers who give us great themes and plugins.
Best Regards.

In reply to: [Data Tables Generator by Supsystic] Not What it SaysHi Jan,
Thank you for your comment – and, the rebuff.I prefer not to post negative reviews – all the other reviews that I have posted for many of the plugins and themes are very positive.
Plugin and theme developers and contributors at WordPress are doing a great job – we all appreciate it.
But, in between there are a few exploiters also who are trying to take undue advantage of others. This is not good.
When someone is simply trying to manipulate and exploit the users at the WordPress, we all have a duty to inform the fellow users.
BTW, did you check back into the description of that plugin? Isn’t it deceptive and Bait-and-switch tactic? Don’t the user of WordPress have the right to know what those plugin developers are doing?
In contrast to that plugin by Supsystic (that I deleted from my site), check out the plugins and themes – and their straight forward descriptions, like the ‘Posts in sidebars’, ‘Tablepress’, ‘Hueman’, and ‘Customizr’ etc. All superb and honest. We respect and love those hardworking developers.
Anyhow, I am also going to change the subject of my review (to make it more “acceptable’ with your perspective) that you found “SHOUTY”. [Hope I will be able to figure out how to edit it]
Finally, thank you for investing your time and doing your best to moderate the forums for all of us. We appreciate it.
Best Regards.

In reply to: [Posts in Sidebar] How to target the Read more linkSignor Aldo,
It worked like a Charm! Thanks a lot.Posts in Sidebar is an amazingly well thought, well designed, and well coded plugin. The beauty is in its simplicity and functionality. And, on top of it is the superb support from you.
I wrote a review of it, I think, a couple of years ago when I first installed it on another of my site. Now, with more updates, it has become even more easy to configure and use.
I’ll soon be writing a detailed new review of this plugin.
Thank you again for all your help and support.

In reply to: Theme Editor cannot save changes in style.css fileHi Stef,
You wrote, “Just not recommended to edit files the way you are doing it.”Can you clarify what other way a child-them’s style.css should be edited? I clearly mentioned in my query that it was not a ‘core’ (theme) file – it is in the child-theme.
Yes, it can be uploaded via FTP – but, a cumbersome way to do it.
I wanted to know what has happened to the theme editor, and how to fix it.
Thank you.

In reply to: [Hueman] Site Security: Post source code reveals too muchHi Rocco,
You have been a great help to many of us who use these fantastic themes ( Hueman & Customizr). Thank you.
As for my query, my concern was that if a hacker just add?“?author=’username’”?after the URL, it should be rather easy for the hackers to use brute force to figure out the password.?
One of my site was hacked a few years ago. Someone had removed my username and added a new username. They couldn’t get the password, since WP sends a change of PW link only via the registered email.
Since then I have implemented a series of steps to secure my sites, but, still, I am concerned about having my username visible to anyone who can look at the ‘page source’.
I can use the aliases for the username, but I was trying to figure out a way to hide it by adding the right code into the ‘functions.php’ (or any other such file) via child theme.
Anyhow, thank you so very much for looking into it.

In reply to: [TablePress - Tables in WordPress made easy] Updating Data in TableHi Tobias,
Hope you are having a Great Day!
Following your advice, I was able to append a row to one of the tables – just for the experiment.
It seems, rows can be added only at the end, and not at the top. After adding the row at the bottom, I had to move it up to the top. Is it the only way?
I think, columns can also be added at the end only?
I couldn’t figure out how to delete the data, and upload a new CSV file into an existing table – is it possible?
I really appreciate your help very much.
Thank you.
ParwaizHi Tobias,
Thank you for looking into it and guiding me. I implemented as you had pointed out, albeit with one change: I had to change the ‘td’ to ‘tr’ as the ‘tbody’ element was affecting the data. Here is the code I put:
.tablepress-id-3 tbody>tr>:nth-child(2),
.tablepress-id-4 tbody>tr>:nth-child(2),
.tablepress-id-5 tbody>tr>:nth-child(2),
.tablepress-id-6 tbody>tr>:nth-child(2),
.tablepress-id-7 tbody>tr>:nth-child(2) {
text-align: left !important;
}.tablepress-id-3 tbody>tr>:nth-child(n+3):nth-child(-n+15),
.tablepress-id-4 tbody>tr>:nth-child(n+3):nth-child(-n+15),
.tablepress-id-5 tbody>tr>:nth-child(n+3):nth-child(-n+15),
.tablepress-id-6 tbody>tr>:nth-child(n+3):nth-child(-n+15),
.tablepress-id-7 tbody>tr>:nth-child(n+3):nth-child(-n+15) {
text-align: right !important;
}I don’t know if there is a better way to accomplish it.
Thank you again.

In reply to: [Posts in Sidebar] Short Code & WIdgetizing pagesHello Aldo,
Thank you very much for a fast response. It is a very useful and well designed plugin, and, on top of it, a great support from you!I noticed many updates since I had installed it on my other website. On that one, I was using another plugin to ‘Widgetize” the pages – but, it seems that the plugin is abandoned and being updated.[wigdetization allows to insert any widget anywhere in the page.]
I will be up posting a new review of this plugin soon.
Thank you again for a great work.
