In reply to: My site was hackedA couple of people asked how I fixed this, but their replies are being removed by a moderator and they’re being instructed to start a new thread.
1. Restore to a previous backup if you have it (if not no worries!)
2. Change WP passwords for any admin user on your website. Remove outdated admin if you have any.
3. Change the password to your web host and FTP server.
4. Back up your website.
5. Install the WordFence plugin and run a scan.
6. Delete any suspicious files.- This reply was modified 6 years ago by particlepat.

In reply to: All child pages of a certain parent are resulting in a 404 errorAlso on a side note, if I change /events/ to /events-2/ or anything else it begins to work again. However the second I change it back to /events/ it starts to break. I’d appreciate any feedback if someone has any ideas.

In reply to: Where is background-color being changed?Grayson,
Background color is actually managed in the CSS style script, which is probably called style.css somewhere in the root of your domain. However, most themes now days have some out-of-the-box customization available so that you don’t have to edit the css. Look for a tab that says Theme Options under the Appearance tab of your WP sidebar. Then just look for the color settings.

In reply to: Can't get my sight to publish-only 404 errorNot sure what the issue is. I can see your website just fine. Just deleting your browser cache and cookies or checking it out in a different web browser. I am using Google Chrome, however if your are getting a 404 error in Internet Explorer only, your theme may not be compatible with IE and you should look into downloading a new one.

In reply to: Website not working for 4 daysHey Layla,
I’ve had this same issue before due to a plugin update that just wasn’t compatible with my theme. I ended up accessing my website via FTP and deleting the entire plugin. Then I checked the website and it was backup. I still wanted the plugin so I went back and re-uploaded the previous version that I knew was compatible with my site.
I hope this helps.

In reply to: Homepage not resolvingThanks I did remove the index.html and default.html files. I forgot that I needed to move the index.php file into the root folder and then change change line 17 to read
require('./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php');
Thanks for jogging my memory.

In reply to: [Redirects] All redirects have disappearedVery cool I just saw the update. When I started having this issue I found the the louddog_redirects table in wp_options to get my data. I then deleted the old table and the plugin and then reinstalled a completely fresh copy. It still recreated the louddog_redirects table which works correctly, however .csv imports still don’t work. On the last one I tried (with the new update) it simply combined some of the cells.

In reply to: [Redirects] All redirects have disappearedJust an update on this, I still can’t do a mass import. I have to separate the URL data line by line and copy/paste them one at a time.

In reply to: [Redirects] All redirects have disappearedI managed to find all of my data in my wp table under wp_options > louddog_redirects. However, for some reason the plugin is not reading this data or successfully importing any .csv sheets in a separate clean installation.
Oops I was wrong. The plugin I am using is Redirects.
Yes this plugin is what I use. However from what I understand it is so basic and the way that it ties into the tables does not change and it doesn’t need to be updated. Also, it has been working perfectly with the current version of wordpress up until this point.

In reply to: how to change the 'Posted By Admin' featureYour User Name is probably Admin. In the User settings be sure to enter your First and Last Name and where it says “Display Your Name Publicly As” you need to select which one you want to use.
You can always tell your index.php page in the toot of your site to route your to a custom HTML page that says under construction. However Google won’t like your site being offline. I would create a subdomain in Hostgator to develop your site. I created beta.mywebsite.com to do all of my developing and testing so that I could easily switch over wehen I was ready.
