I did read your link and as I said, there is nothing in my wp-config.php! How about you try to tell me something I DON’T know rather than what I do know!

Telling me that “On some servers, WordPress has this access by default.” was the first helpful think you have posted. Apparently mine is such a server. I have turned of ftp and can still install plugins.

Okay, I update wordpress and install pluggins without entering ftp information. Does wordpress not need ftp info to automatically download and install updates and plugins?

If not, where MIGHT the ftp settings be? I don’t know enough about wordpress to find it on my own. This is getting very frustrating as I want to turn off my ftp server.

I don’t mean to be a jerk, but I know where they are not.

Can anyone tell me where the ftp settings might be? or where they are by default?

    Then where are they?

If I understand that link you sent, these would be definitions in wp-config.php. This is where EVERY article I have read says that the ftp settings are located. My wp-config.php does NOT have ftp settings.

I remember setting up the FTP (because I had issues) but I don’t remember how/where.

Where would these definitions be found?

I have a wp-config.php, and it has settings in it, but there are no settings for ftp. It is not a large file, but just to be sure I was not overlooking it, I searched for “ftp”, my hostname and the IP.

So the ftp settings HAVE to be somewhere else. Below are all the plugins I have installed. the one for sftp was most recently installed but it is not using sftp.

Add Font Family Dropdown to Visual Editor
    Cool Video Gallery
    Gallery
    Hello Dolly
    New User Approve
    Simple Local Avatars
    SSH SFTP Updater Support
    Ready! Backup
    WP-Mail-SMTP
WP Complete Backup (which stopped working, thus the Ready! Backup)

Thank you. I missed that point. I thought that “deactivating” and then deleting did the same thing. This fixed it.

Here are two errors I found in the apache2 error logs. Maybe this will help you figure out what I am missing. I changed the IP and blog address for privacy.

    [Thu Jan 17 23:45:13 2013] [error] [client X.X.X.X] WordPress database error Unknown column ‘video_title’ in ‘field list’ for query INSERT INTO wp_cvg_videos (galleryid, filename, thumb_filename, alttext, video_title, description, videodate, video_type) VALUES (‘5’, ‘arya-and-sheldon-playing_1.mp4’, ‘thumbs_arya-and-sheldon-playing_1.png’, ‘arya-and-sheldon-playing_1’, ‘arya-and-sheldon-playing_1’, ‘arya-and-sheldon-playing_1’, ‘2013-01-18 05:45:13’, ‘upload’) made bydo_action(‘video-gallery_page_cvg-gallery-add’), call_user_func_array, CoolVideoGallery->gallery_add, include(‘/plugins/cool-video-gallery/admin/gallery-add.php’), CvgCore->processor, CvgCore->upload_videos, CvgCore->add_Videos, referer: https://myblog.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=cvg-gallery-add sh: /Applications/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/ffmpeg: not found

I cannot add videos in any way. I try uploading, I try uploading to WP media and attaching, nothing. I can create a gallery and I get the video-gallery folder in my wp-content/uploads folder. But I can’t even get the empty gallery to show up, even if I use the tinyMCE button to set the code.

Where is the gallery info stored? is it in the WP sql DB? If so maybe I need to delete the tables used for CVG. It seems to me as if WP or CVG doesn’t know where to look for the gallery, when uploading and displaying the page.

I tried that and even though I deleted files, it came back still showing the gallery that I had. What files am I missing when I delete the plugin?

More information. I tried to create a new gallery to see if there was a problem with the original one. I can create a new gallery, but cannot upload any videos to it. Even if I try to add the empty gallery to a page, I get [Gallery Not Found].

I use the tinyMCE button and it shows all the galleries and puts the code in the page, but when the page is displayed {Gallery Not Found].
