In reply to: My very first blog!Hello!
You linked it incorrectly:
your-own-fitness.comI don’t like the goth logo, it’s unfitting.
The content is nice ??Forum: Your WordPress

In reply to: Review my Travel BlogCDN won’t help.
This only affects the initial resolving, once per user’s ISP until the record expires (five weeks in your domain’s case, absurd).
The server’s performance is as good as can be expected for a 850ms round trip time, you can’t do much about that without moving it, but fixing the DNS issues will help a lot. Consider hosting DNS separately from your host if you’re too attached.

In reply to: Review my Travel BlogGoing to get a bit technical:
Use a different host.
Hosting a site in Australia is bad enough (for the rest of the world) but having all of the DNS servers in a single location (as your host does) is worse. The domain name took about a minute to resolve from Europe, how many visitors would close the tab before your site loads? I realize that all of your target audience may be Australian but choosing a better host is definitely something you should look into. At least make sure they have DNS servers on multiple different geographical locations.
The content is nice, keep up the good work.
Regarding the blog design, nothing much to review, nice logo, cliche theme.Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: Evaluate a good or bad?I like it, pretty and readable.
The floated article images (featured images?) are escaping their containers in Chrome though.

In reply to: How to make wordpress installation secure from hackers ?WordPress is a heavily developed and frequently updated opensource project.
As such, the base installation has a lot of security features built in, and any flaws/holes are quickly fixed. Therefore focus on improving security in the features what are out of core team’s ability to fix.
– keep your installation up to date
– don’t use themes or plugins that are not hosted on wordpress.com/extend
Payed closed source themes don’t always guarantee security.
– keep your server secureYour system is as strong as it’s weakest link. WordPress won’t improve an insecure server, so be careful what else you use on the same box.

In reply to: Wp-admin and wp-login dont work. How can I login to my site?Perhaps the folder simply isn’t there?
You (or someone else) could have deleted it by mistake, WP can function just fine without the admin folder.
The correct URL would be:
/wp-admin/index.phpIf you have access to your server’s files, simply download a fresh install of wordpress and upload the wp-admin folder in the site’s root.

In reply to: Game Site: Gimme some Feedback PleaseNot bad, theme’s a bit heavy.
Since you’re not using post summaries, you might wish to reduce the number of posts per page to about 2, or even one. Site will load faster and everything will be a bit more readable.

In reply to: Started a psychology/spirituality siteI’m not an expert (and English isn’t my primary language), but wouldn’t, to paraphrase, declaring that someone is mad if they are seeking information on your site have a negative effect on an already unstable person’s psyche, provided that the target audience actually reaches the page?
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful initiative and a noble cause, I wish you the best of luck with the site, however the domain/title really didn’t sit well with me. I’m saying this with very best intentions.

In reply to: Please tell me your commentsAh. Client. I’ve been there ??
Anything self-hosted would be better, you can even quite easily script your own and display it as plain text that wouldn’t stand out as much. Basically the entire code can be small enough to fit elegantly in the footer, google “php hit count”.
As for plugins:

In reply to: Please tell me your commentsA humble advice:
loose the hit counter. The theme looks fantastic (compliments to the author), but that counter sets it back all the way to 1995.
If you want stats use a tracking script (like analytics) or your server’s control panel, if any.

In reply to: Migrated site to root, now can't access backendThis is difficult to diagnose without access to the server, perhaps you should ask your host to look into it?
Blank page usually means error output has been disabled, you would need to look into the logs (located in various paths, depending on server setup).
It could also possibly indicate problems with url rewrites, perhaps they apply only to the sub older you moved the site from, or you didn’t move the .htaccess file (if any, apache only)
