WPFusion was the culprit. Turns out they just added the checkbox for “Send a welcome email to new users containing their username and a password reset link.” in the last update. And it was unchecked by default.

I checked it and now the notifications are sent out again.

Okay, the reason I mentioned that is that it says you need the Classic Editor in this post: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/how-can-i-receive-the-best-support/

But good to know that’s not necessary. Users are created from a plugin called WPFusion. I see that in their setting there is a checkbox for “Send a welcome email to new users containing their username and a password reset link.” This is unchecked and has always been unchecked.

I recently updated WPFusion, and I can see in their changelog that they’ve “Fixed unwanted welcome emails with users imported via ConvertKit webhooks”, so that might have caused the issue. I will contact them and ask about this.

I deactivated all my plugins then activated them one-by-one. Turns out it is this plugin that causes the issue:

Ok, it was me who didn’t understand the settings of Simply Exclude. But now I understand that Pages has to be activated in the settings for the plugin to exclude them from search.
