This is obviously a common issue and a baffling one to solve unless you know php (perhaps the developers might consider a better solution in future versions), I hope that this link helps someone going forward.

Ok, an update, I have figured out how to remove the items in the sidebar myself. The code was sufficiently like html for me to successfully remove them.

However, although I can see the code for “comments” it is completely alien to me, and I have no idea what to change to remove all trace of comments completely.

Can anyone please help?
