In reply to: Site messed up and can't log in to wordpress anymoreIf you can’t login then you probably best to go to your phpadmin and export the database files from there to your desktop. Open it in a text edit program and search for https://www.example.fi and replace with https://www.example.fi/sub. This will get your site back working again. Then read the Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory info as above. If you get really stuck look me up and I’ll help you..

In reply to: theme development issue with index.phpI,m not an expert by any means however I have built site using my own templates in wordpress. An easy to use template starter is starkers. Which is basically a stripped down, no frills theme template for starting to make your own template. I used this many times and the instructions are very clear. Oh and it’s free… why invent the wheel when you can learn from experts such as starkers. Hope this helps you get going, it helped me..

In reply to: A bit more securityWhy do you want to change this file? having this file in the folder prevents visitors from randomly seeing a list of your files in the folder. Are you experiencing a problem with visitors accessing your site?

In reply to: moving site to new server problemsHi xcntrx, If I understand correctly.. you installed a fresh copy of wordpress on your server? Remove all the files from your server. You do not need to install a fresh copy of wordpress at first – you can update this later on after getting your site to work. Unzip the previous files onto your server. These should include the wordpress files as well. (If in doubt just do a fresh copy of all the files on the existing server.) Open the wp-config.php and make sure you have changed information in there to match your new server location and your new database information, username etc. Then import you existing database file (.sql) using php-admin via the control panel. If you get stuck – look me up and I can help you..

In reply to: Custom Post Type URL StructureThis can be achieved by using categories. For example you can make the category “locations”. Make another category “canada” and using the Parent dropdown on the category page you can select “locations”. You can do this for multiple levels. Let me know if this is what you intended.
