I found something to get me underway. People who are interested in the same should follow this link, it has a simple, straight forward tutorial on how to call the most recent posts in a certain category in a PHP widget.

I’m sorry, problem was it had to upgrade the database. Now it’s fine.

Turns out it was a problem with my theme not being compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

I’m pretty sure this has to do with the theme I’m using (Arras). I disabled it by temporarily renaming the theme folder in FTP, then I could access the wp-admin page. Not sure what’s wrong with Arras though.

I’m quite sure that’s actually a different problem altogether, Pattaya. Perhaps theme related but my white screens are happening in the admin panel. The website itself looks fine.

Thanks for the advice, esmi. I had tried all but reuploading the latest version but I’m afraid that didn’t solved the problem either.

I should probably note that I’ve tried disabling all plugins already. That doesn’t solve the problem.

Consider this resolved. I had to delete and reactive the Twitter Tools plugin and everything was explained then.

Thanks, Shane. I’ve tried everything there, and he still can’t log in. Could it be a firewall issue?

He did manage to log in before though.
