In reply to: nofollow support added? What matters most is allowing the end-user to be in control of their publishing. The nature of the web is defined by linking. Spammers, obviously, take advantage of this to the detriment of nearly all. However, there are quite a few tools available to help take care of this.
I am satisfied with how they handle spam on my blogs, and I would _not_ want linking from comments to be turned off by default.

In reply to: adding images during blog postingIt’s not the intuitive answer you’re looking for, but you can always right-click to open the upload in another tab/window and the copy-n-paste back into your post (without having to do one or the other “first”).

In reply to: TUrn off Email Notification?I don’t have any blank lines in my list; I only get email for the comments that are held for moderation and/or being automatically deleted.
$*&#*(&$*&!!!!! it will never end! the only way out is to use a bad email address, but then nobody can ever contact the admin via the site (or recover my own password, etc.)
:::sigh:::

In reply to: should be simple: get rid of <p> tags in post bodyhi, still waiting for an answer… WHERE does the “remove_filter” code get placed?

In reply to: The comment system is about to drive me insaneI used to have email-for-moderation switched on, then disabled it when the flood of spam started.
I’m using WPBlacklist, which is a life-saver.
However, the emails never stopped coming. The only way to stop them is to enter a bad email for admin.
this is for sites running 1.2 and 1.2.1. I don’t think I’ve upgraded to 1.2.2 yet **embarrassed**

In reply to: Turn HTML off for one post:::sigh::: all this time, and auto-formatting is still impossible to turn off.
Stop messing with my posts, WordPress. I wrote them a certain way, I want them to appear a certain way, standards be d**n’d.

In reply to: Upload to Blog EntryWhat podz said.
However, the ability to upload from within the edit-pane would not be a bad thing.

In reply to: WPBlacklist seems to be blocking everythingExport the blacklist and view the local file — check for your IP address, email, etc.
You can also do this via the “search” feature.
I did a test — it blocked the comment, and added my email to the database. @@$#*$&@#&*&!!!!!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: TUrn off Email Notification?Yeah… the only way I can _stop_ mail from showing up, is to put a bad email address into the blog… which I don’t particularly like.
I’m getting swamped with comment-spam, so my email servers are getting swamped. Plugin capcha or not, I get the #@#$!@#$% email (and, yes, it is NOT set to email me. Well, it once was. I turned it off. didn’t do anything).Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: intermittent database errorSitemeter shouldn’t be accessing _your_ database though; its request for an image from the Sitemeter server triggers the stats capture — but that’s all on their end. When they have trouble, all you should see is a slowed-down page load.

In reply to: Removing extra newlinesThis works like a charm. Hope to see it added to Options someday; it’s too important to on be able to change it by editing the code; too many users will be turned off by it.

In reply to: Turn off BR filter…Heh. Thank you for your restrained diplomacy. I’ve been posting far to much about this issue, only it was really getting under my skin today.
I took the advice listed in another thread and In includes/functions-formatting.php changed$br = 1
to$br = 0
in the autop function.
Still, I hope to see a check-box or some-such under Options in the future.
