In reply to: organization and menusPodz — why does 1.5 link manager suddenly insist upon absolute instead of realtive URIs? all my old relative links (originally stores in 1.2 link manager) get an ugly and non-working https:// thrown onto the front of them [ie ‘https:///artists_statement.html’%5D which a) kills them and b) means every time I mirror my sites (I manage about 7 sites with blogs for people) I’ve got to run SQL queries to redirect them to my test server.
Ah, relativity!

In reply to: multiple adminser, I don’t hate the word “links” — I hate the word “blogroll” that I replaced without deleting the gloss.

In reply to: multiple adminsI just went into PhpMyAdmin to manually change him to level10; I’ll let y’all know if I encounter any weird conflicts in the future.
For now, he can edit his own links (ugh, I hate that word) so all is right with the world.

In reply to: multiple adminsI host and develop blogs for several people, and keep myself as the admin becuase, well — I have a lot of administering to do.
But the user should be able to do the majority of tasks within the blog without me relinquishing my *10* status as admin.
If level 10 is possible, it should also be possible to set somebody else to level 10. co-admin situations, etc.

In reply to: Integrating existing HTML pagesPart of the problem may be that WordPress auto-formats to a considerable degree, adding paragraph tags etc. which will break a lot of code from elsewhere. The trick is to either turn off ALL WP formatting (deep in the mysterious bowels of the code), or to put all your other-HTML onto ONE LINE — this way it won’t get broken up.
It won’t be humanly readable anymore, but so it goes…

In reply to: Unwanted <br /> before and after each entry!the short story — WordPress auto-formats all of your posts. All of them. It adds break-tags, paragraph-tags, smart-quotes, the whole shebang.
It is default, and next to impossible to turn off. Unless you want to turn _everything_ off.
Perhaps if we pooled our resources, we could bribe somebody to create a plugin. In the meantime, I am hoping to learn PHP someday, in the vain hope that I can shut the !@#$^&^! off myself.

In reply to: Editing my forum profileeeek, when will this be updated? I need to switch URLs … that one works, but is not a very active site, and I have one I’m a little prouder of. Ah, well…..

In reply to: nofollow support added?I’m just worried about the continued “feature-creep” of WordPress for options that have no way of being turned off — like autoformatting. I am already frustrated with the lack of control that WordPress gives me over my posts, and am worried that it will get worse, not better. When WordPress hits 2.0 I wouldn’t be surprised to see a dancing paperclip to try to help me write my blog entries — and the only way to turn it off will be a plugin! ??
