Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Autoptimize] SoapFaultThanks for the prompt reply Frank. I’ll have to set time aside to deactivate all active plugins and bring them back one at a time to see effect on autoptimize.
I’m a (retired) self-taught amateur with no IT background so I hope the cure is technically simple! I really need to speed up the response time of my site – I’ll also query the ISP to see if there’s a problem at their end.

In reply to: User menu from admin dashboard is lostThank you again! This is a more-than-1-beer solution, so I’d better get to work. The advice and references are much appreciated

In reply to: User menu from admin dashboard is lostJust scanned the site with sucuri.net and it is reported clean (all green!)
The site is maximumdefinition.com if that’s useful.
Are you suggesting I delete all the wp files on the server and re-install wp to remove all possible back-doors?
If I check all themes and plugins, what exactly am I looking for? I’m not a techie, I’m a self-taught WP user with no coding experience! Playing with html, and css to a lesser degree, isn’t frightening, but I don’t have any experience with PHP.
Can you recommend security plugins to minimize risks of being hacked again. I currently have :
ACTIVE
Better WP security
Front end users
Limit login attempts (which has caught a number of attempts to login as admin)INACTIVE
Login security solution
User role editorThanks again for the support

In reply to: User menu from admin dashboard is lostHi Jerry
I FTPd a new version of the hacked file ‘version.php’, loaded a back-up copy of the database via Cpanel that was saved last month (clean? I hope), and re-updated my WP even tho I was already at 3.4.1These were tried in sequence, I checked the user menu once I had the admin login back as I wanted to change p/w and see if there was a new user. With no USER menu I’ve changed p/w via phpMyAdmin and there isn’t an extra user!
Thanks for the support.

In reply to: Can anyone recommend a sleek Photo Gallery?I’ve used Picasa (from Google, free) to store my photo files, then uploaded chosen pictures to their free online album (slideshow) area. From there I get a short code piece which, when inserted into a page (I have a static site mostly)via the HTML editor, embeds the slide show into your page.
If that’s what you want, it works well, and presents the slides at a controllable interval, and can be set to repeat eternally.Update 3-18-2011:
After authenticating (settings menu) a couple of times the line 827 error went away! But it was replaced by two error messages:Notice: Undefined property: WP_User::$user_level in /home4/sirincor/public_html/branch8/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/googleanalytics.php on line 1312
Notice: Undefined property: WP_User::$user_level in /home4/sirincor/public_html/branch8/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/googleanalytics.php on line 1312
Ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance
OrindanOtto, thanks for your comment but I see I did not give a perfect definition of the problem. I did not change the code as you suggested! I found this code error exists on every page of the site, and I can cure the problem temporarily by editing each page, but with about 40 pages (so far) I don’t think that’s the right approach.
I only found the problem yesterday. I use Chrome routinely and the format is perfect. A final test with Firefox showed the anomaly. I may have caused the damage when I replaced the footer text with a copyright statement, but I didn’t see the problem at the time.
I’d really like to find the area where this code is generated and solve the problem at the source. Do you have an idea to help me there?
Thanks again.
