In reply to: [Geotag] [Plugin: Geotag] upgrade to v2@bobs. Well that explains why I couldn’t get it working!
If I include a link to the full 10MP sized image then it works just great …If I link to the thumbnail or the gallery then theres no exif there for it to find. Is this a bug or a feature? ??
I’ve been looking at another way to skin this cat. The search took me to https://www.kristarella.com/2009/04/add-image-exif-metadata-to-wordpress/
She’s hooking into the wordpress readexif function and amending that to also read the exif into the attachment meta. A similar method could be used to create the meta entries for “_GEOLAT” etc that geotag uses to tag posts into attachments also. Would that be in any way useful? That way an exif would only need to be read once, on upload, and the inbuilt wordpress functions could be used to read the meta for any attachment that was geotagged. This would have the advantage that regardless of which resized image version was linked to in the post the geo meta would provide a consistent location.

In reply to: [Geotag] [Plugin: Geotag] upgrade to v2@bobs – I’m sure it’ll be something silly I’m doing (it always is).
https://wp.me/p11PI4-57 is as good an example as any.
The photos on that post should show up in Rushworth, just south of the marker at the top.
I’ve tried this with just a simple post/page with only a single photo on it to simplify the issue, but the outcome is the same.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Geotag] [Plugin: Geotag] upgrade to v2I’ve got something a little different. From a fresh install of 2.0 I have been able to get a map to show with a post marker and also a GPX track. I can’t seem to get the EXIF data from the built-in gallery photos to be plotted though.
Is the GEO EXIF data supposed to be added to the attachment meta or read on the fly? I’ve got no GEO data in the attachment meta, but its definately still in the images when they’re re-downloaded from wordpress to check. I do get other EXIF data in the meta though so I seems to have all the right PHP extensions enabled.
