I see in the latest update the owner commented out the section you mentioned and added the one one you added ??

Had the same problem. Worked after the update to 1.6.0.3.

If it works for you, use migrate guru. Migrated a site of 250gb+ with no problems. Over night.

My guess it’s probably a timeout. 25000 photos would take a long time. Scripts have a limited time to execute. Try importing smaller batches.

Thanks for the pointers.
I changed the display ad in the Advanced ads plugin from responsive to normal and set the size 728×90. And also changed the ad in google adsense settings to fixed, same size. Still can’t see ads in articles. What do you reckon?
