I am having the same problem. Basically, when I choose “featured image” my post formatting is switched from “Standard” to “Image.” My header disappears and a screen-filling image replaces it. It began as an occasional problem and has become permanent and leaves me with two choices at present: (1) skip the featured image that renders my posts as boring titles that search engines ignore or (2) tolerate the image formatting that slows loading time to a crawl. I’d appreciate some advice, please.
