    Thank You Samboll

On I’m the phone now with hostway.com they seem completely clueless, but I’ve asked to speak to a manager there in tech support and I’m on hold for one, I’m logged into my control panel with them, and I’m not seeing a MySQL section or a PHPAdmin section, but I’m hoping that the technical support manager I eventually get will be able to walk me through where in their control panel for my account with them this is buried.

That’s one of the aggravating parts about having a 7 year old site, our original webhost provider was bought out by a new company.

I did finally get a manager on the phone, even though hostway is billing me for the new account, they have not completed the conversion from the old valueweb system to theirs which is why I can’t access the MySQL and the PHP sections that would correct this concern as you said.

I did open a trouble ticket with my web host provider and they have promised to complete the migration by Tuesday of this coming week, which should give me access to these sections which I’ll go into as soon as I have access to and delete out the old databases that are broken, unaccessible and unuseable.

Thanks Again Samboll, You’re input has proven to be extremely valuable and alerted me to an issue I had with my web host provider that I was unaware of previously. Thanks Again!

    Sincerely,
    Onguys

I just figured out the email part everyone, Thanks!

I just noticed the RSS Feed part, and I have a google homepage that it feeds to so I’ll be able to see your replies directly here in the forum instead of having to send emails.

Thanks Again everyone! Any help here is tremendously appreciated!

The problem with that is. As far as my web host is concerned, I’ve deleted all of these, I have checked my “MySQL” section too, to no success, but www.remarpro.com picks up the old databases still.

Do you happen to know what that might be, and how I can correct for that?

    Thanks for your feedback!
    Sincerely,

Regrettably Valueweb has recently been bought out by Hostway.com and about the only technical support I can get out of them is whether their server is up and running.

Any support I need for Frontpage (which we’re trying to migrate out of) or WordPress 2.7.1 they simply respond, “I’m sorry, but we do not offer support for any software our customers upload to our servers” which I guess is understandable, but it would be nice if they would do more than just keep the server running. But one really can’t expect much more than that I guess for $20 a month.

I’ve debated about just buying my own server and keeping it running her at my home, but then of course, I haven’t learned enough yet to know how to run my own static ISP, which is why I’m stil reliant on such companies like Hostway at the moment.

Thank You, This section was very helpful. At first I thought about just using a background image like I do in the frontpage version of my website; but then I thought through it a bit better. Background images do not translate easily in SEO efforts. However the Title and Tagline are both text items which do.

Pretty much my original background image was a word art rendering, with a pretty colored background. Taking that into account, the background image when used as a background image only is an excellent tool.

Thank You all for helping me think through this, so that I can use the tools more effectively. I really love how the Blog Title is a hyperlink to the blog’s main page, that’s a very useful tool.

Right now I’m reading through WordPress for Dummies and PHP/MySQL for Dummies to help me understand the WordPress Blog program better. I’m practicing in a database I literally called practice until I get comfortable enough with the how to’s to start converting my outdated website from MS Frontpage to the WordPress format which is a Godsend for functionality.

Thank You Everyone, www.remarpro.com is a Godsend Technical Community.
I would have never known to consider it if a friend of mine working at UALR https://www.ualr.edu had not told me www.remarpro.com is the basis for their website architecture. I’ve also noticed that many of the most advanced sites online now are based in php and mysql; such as https://www.facebook.com .

Uploading the modified image I wish to use for Header background to the theme folder, subfolder img, then saving the modified image as header.gif allowed me to update desired modified image over the one that came with the theme I downloaded. Thank You all for this forum update, I doubt that I would have figured this out on my own, at least not without futzing something up along the way. You saved me a ton of time and heart ache!

    Thank You!
