Okay maybe this was all a bit confusing because I installed everything at the same time, but what I need is the following functionality:

If a visitor is from an EU country, the price shown in the shop and product view needs to include taxes of 19%. In any other case, no taxes need to be shown. This is following German law, and that’s why I was panicking. This function doesn’t seem to work in whatever settings I tried, though.

I couldn’t get any more help from other forums either, so I think I might try a new install when I have a quiet day.

Hi John,

I used automatic taxes before, which caused this whole problem. Automatic taxes and geolocation don’t seem to work. The price is always the same and doesn’t get adjusted (i check with geopeeker or similar websites).

I just tried it again and it’s the same issue. geopeeker in EU countries does not show the price inclusive of taxes, it’s all the same price across the world.

I had a caching plugin installed recently, which didn’t change anything tho. I’m not sure which plugins i should deactivate to try to solve this. Feels like a clean re-install would be the next step…

the report is fine. I also tried changing to a standard theme or disabling other plugins. Somehow this problem is persistent. When I use geolocation every user will be identified as coming from the US. I had to set it now to use taxes based on the store location (Germany) so it’s at least not illegal in Germany (where the company is based)

After a bit more research I have probably pinned it down to the geolocation. Since there is a tax rate for * counrtries with 0% I was able to see which country the browser thinks I’m in when I changed that to a different number.

It seems that although woocommerce says geolocation works, it is not. My website hoster agreed that it isn’t working. Are there any other settings or file permissions that could cause this problem?
