    Thanks, Siobhan! (yours is one of the first Irish names I learned when I moved to Ireland ??

    I had only noticed yesterday. Yeah, I had changed the featured image a couple of weeks ago but I hadn’t noticed an ugly resizing at the time. It was indeed a shorter image than the previous one and Sela was now resizing it at 1.5 (I was convinced that before it didn’t resize, but rather cut it).

    I’ve now changed the image to the one I’d used in the past as a temporary solution – I might change it again with a different crop when I have more time.

    Thanks!

    First, This is about the Testimonials widget you created.

    Next, no, I’m not using shortcodes.

    Third.. Oh, I guess you’re saying that the settings in the following screenshot are useless? https://www.okiwipassion.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Screenshot-99.png

    Oh ok, thanks for sharing that documentation, now I understood I can change some of the settings from Appearance > Widgets. I guess here I can’t enable paging, to replace automatic sliding, right?

    Thanks!

    Thanks girlieworks!!! You’re the best ?? Marking as resolved :)))

    Thanks for trying to help.

    To clarify: I CANNOT change any settings in the plugin because I cannot access the dashboard.

    I think Shannon W is onto it and I probably just have to delete those lines of code, but before doing it, I’d like confirmation ??

    Thanks!

    Hi Shannon W,

    Half way there, THANKS so much! htaccess has the following rule (from iThemes!)

    # BEGIN iThemes Security - Do not modify or remove this line
    # iThemes Security Config Details: 2
    	# Enable the hide backend feature - Security > Settings > Hide Login Area > Hide Backend
    	RewriteRule ^(/)?wplogin/?$ /wp-login.php [QSA,L]
    # END iThemes Security - Do not modify or remove this line

    So, should I just go ahead and delete that whole iThemes section?

    Thanks again, you’re a saver ??

    Actually, sorry, I just realized there’s a “Adaptive Slider Height?” option. I used to have it ticked and now I’ve unticked it. It seems to work. Is there any reason why you wouldn’t recommend this instead of changing the widget height?

    Thank you ??

    PS. I’ve now removed the above code because the misalignment looked too ugly to leave it up… and I may never get an answer here, so at least it looks fine now ??

    Hi Kathryn,

    Thanks for your help and the css tip about repetition in particular!

    1.
    Thanks, I tried your suggestion and it worked wonders to split the site description into two lines! However it has now moved to the left under the logo.

    How can I center the site-description (center of the page) while aligning it vertically with the logo?

    Float and align didn’t work :/ (and I’ve made the site-title font-size: 2px to make sure it doesn’t take much room)
    See e.g. https://www.okiwipassion.co.nz/about/

    2.
    Could you address #2, please, Kathryn? It hasn’t been answered yet ??

    Rephrasing the question, as she wanted it clarified: How can I make the post / page content start below the featured image?

    3.
    I’m afraid we’re not understanding each other about my needs re screens (I’m thinking of the other thread we have open too). I do NOT want to restrict to certain screens, rather the opposite. I want the website to work on ALL screens. Which is why I’m not happy with using a specific size in absolute numbers (e.g. 125px) nor a % of the image size (because my guess is that this is the same as saying a specific size in absolute numbers).

    Is there a way to do this generally for all devices? Maybe using a % of area width instead of a % of image width (I don’t want to use absolute numbers for the image size)?

    4.
    Thanks for the search widget background color code!

    All that said, you currently have a background colour set to #e5f4de in the Customizer. The easiest way to change the background colour site-wide is by changing it once there. No CSS will be needed.

    Nope, I’m afraid that the background color in customizer only changes the two side lines where there’s no content.

    Thanks for the “body” css tip, though, that certainly simplifies life! ??

    Thanks in advance to look into the above!

    #4 In case anyone’s interested in using this code, I got further with:

    /*
    Change every page's background color (default was white)
    */
    .site-content {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .page-template-default {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .single-post {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .archives {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .category {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .page {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .full-width-page {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .grid-page {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .content-wrapper {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }
    .content-wrapper.without-featured-image {
    	background-color: #ffffee;
    }

    Now I’m trying to change the Search box background color as .input[type="search"] {background-color: #ffffee;} didn’t work.

    PS for #1 Forgot to say, I would like the site Description aligned with the logo (in every page except the homepàge). As you can see, I’m not displaying the site Title (and I’ve made it 2px in case that helps remove space, but I don’t think it does ?? ). Thanks!

    Thanks, Sarah!

    1.
    That code was very useful, thanks! ?? Now there’s too much empty space, though; Do you know how I could split the description into two lines, potentially with different size or font:

    Market garden. Orchard. Nursery
    Great Barrier Island

    I don’t really want to use the work-around of using Title for the first line and Description for the second line (because that has undesired side-effects).

    2.

    Do you mean you want to shift the page title down so the it displays completely below the image so they don’t touch at all? But otherwise stay the same?”

    Yes ??

    3.
    Yeah, that was exactly my question: How to do this so that it works for different screens. As far as I can tell, the link you shared doesn’t help with that (style, height, width)… or the 50% width suggestion, right? Is there any css instruction specific to widgets or the widget areas, which refers to padding or margin?

    I could make the whole widget area narrower, I suppose. I don’t mind the text being narrower –I just want to reduce the image display so they are not so much in your face ??

    4.
    Thanks! That helped partially. Check this page as an example of what background is still unchanged (white) and I want to change as well: https://www.okiwipassion.co.nz/gallery/

    5. Great, thanks! ??

    Thread Starter okiwipassion

    (@okiwipassion)

    PS Let me double-check I do this right (since I don’t have a form to check it live) [The code that was shared above was very useful but also looks a bit messy to me and every change I made took me some extra time (because everything is in one line instead of with paragraphs and indented).]

    You’re saying I need to add it here, right?

    .main-navigation ul ul a:hover,.main-navigation ul ul>li.focus>a{color:#007300}
    input[type="button"],input[type="reset"],input[type="submit"],#infinite-handle span{background-color:#007300}
    input[type="text"]:focus,input[type="email"]:focus,input[type="password"]:focus,input[type="search"]:focus,input[type="url"]:focus,textarea:focus{border-color:#007300}

    Would this be OK?

    .main-navigation ul ul a:hover,.main-navigation ul ul>li.focus>a{color:#007300}
    input[type="button"],input[type="reset"],input[type="submit"],#infinite-handle span{background-color:#007300}
    input[type="text"]:focus,input[type="email"]:focus,input[type="tel"]:focus,input[type="password"]:focus,input[type="search"]:focus,input[type="url"]:focus,textarea:focus{border-color:#007300}

    I only added input[type="tel"]:focus. Is it enough? Thanks!

    (@okiwipassion)

    Thanks, Boris :)))) I’m actually having quite a bit of fun editing css! After I finish with this (which I’m doing as part of a volunteering opportunity), I’ll give a face lift to my own blog ??

    Re. your form suggestion:
    OK, I’ll add that, even though I won’t be using a regular contact form. I’ve installed the WooCommerce plugin, which includes forms to make the purchase and become a customer, but I don’t think they pick up the theme style unless you force it.

    (the store will be enabled later, as the business owners aren’t ready to fill up the online store with info now)
