  • Another strange problem – if you edit your post, then go back and realise you missed something, and try to edit it again, it tells you that this forum has spam protection, and you’re only allowed to post once a minute.
    Since when does editing equal posting?
    And why does this spam message appear when you click on “Edit” instead of when you click on “Submit” (ie. you could easily spend the rest of the 60 seconds editing your post again, but you have to wait till the 60 seconds have passed before you can even enter the editing page)?

    Wow, very nice site!
    Two little things:
    1) The menu. This is my personal opinion, but I think it looks like something from the mid-90’s. Definitely doesn’t look as good as the rest of the site. While I think putting the menu points in “boxes” fits nicely, I’d make the boxes look different, if I were you.
    2) A little quirk: The “About this site” and “Content” boxes at the bottom jump a little the first time I hover over a link; they get moved one or two pixels down (I think). It only happens to the box in which the hovered link is placed (ie. hovering over a link in Contact won’t move About this site, only Contact, and vice versa), and it doesn’t “jump” back again on mouseout and only happens on the first mouseover of each box… sort of strange…
    But still, a very good site! A good representation of your band, I’d say (not knowing your music, of course)

    WOAH!!!
    I was just thinking how nice and clean this blog looks, when suddenly the psychedelic background of the century popped up and nearly knocked me off my chair… yikes!
    (Okay, it looks better now that the content area has a background colour of its own; before, the background image was visible on the entire page, like this.)
    So, yeah, I’d agree that perhaps changing the background image into something a little less… striking, would be a good idea…
    And also, I’d do the rollover images for the menu using A List Apart’s CSS Sprites technique, which prevents load times for rollover images.
    Other than that, methinks it’s a very neat design.

    Okay, I am so sure I already posted in this thread, but apparently the forum disagrees with me… ah well…
    What I had to say was basically that I love it, very colourful! But the green is a bit too much, methinks… it doesn’t fit the other colours well and it kind of hurts my eyes if I look at it too long…

    Okay, I realised since I already had headings for the two lower “boxes”, I might as well have on the two upper ones as well, so I put the “leave a comment” and “search” headings back in, is it better now?

    One of the perils of such an unusual choice of colours is that some will love it and some will hate it. I, unfortunately, belong to the second category, sorry. It’s very well done, but the colours are just not to my taste.
    The content, however, is rather funny ??

    Why is it bad form to present an input box in anything but an empty state? I mean, does it make any sort of difference? I’ve seen it used on many sites (well-designed and generally good sites), and I think it adds a layer of usability, doesn’t detract from it.
    I can see what you mean that it can be hard to find the comments box… initially, I had the label that said “Leave a comment” above it (as in the standard template), but that just looks bad with this design. What I wanted to do was have the comment box have “write your comment here” or something as its value and then the name and e-mail in the other two boxes, and then when you clicked on any of the boxes, they would turn empty (see the thread called “Remember values but have standard values as well” on the same page)… why would this be bad?

    I’m not using a plugin… isn’t it the archives? What I meant was that part of the [standard] menu that’s called “archives”, where you can choose to display posts by months, weeks, days or posts. I always thought that was the “archives”. Since I’m using the postbypost option, I wanted to be able to see how many comments a post had without having to actually open the post – and I managed to do it by altering and copying parts of comment_number() into get_archives()…
    But yeah, your site times out for me… No, wait, just checked again -it doesn’t time out, it simply doesn’t find the domain (it just stays at “resolving host mtdewvirus.com” and then says “host mtdewvirus.com could not be found. Please check bla bla bla”). But don’t worry, there are lots of sites that do that to me here – although I can’t really see what benefit blocking your personal blog would be of to the Chinese government… :-s

    Haha – how appropriate that I should make a typo (and just notice it now) in the exact sentence where I say it’s hard to avoid typos completely ??
    Anyway – since this thread is about (a) Danish blog(s), I thought it would be appropriate to throw in a little link to mine (it’s also in another thread, but what the hell) to have them gathered in their own little home (err, that’s this thread… uh, yeah…).

    Last one, I promise!

    No such conclusion to no such confusion about no such quote on no such topic with no such title with no such text and no such replies to no such question with no such comment

    There’s no such thing!

    *bump*
    Should there be anyone else interested in doing this, but not able to comprehend the link MDV provided above, I finally managed to get it done another way by adding a few lines of code! The result can be seen here or by clicking on my name!
    (I’m so proud of myself)

    Argh!

    Glad to be of assistance ??
    Nice to see… err, I mean not see the problem fixed…
    One little hint: In your search form, the input field and the submit button have adjoining borders, which makes a thicker border where they touch. I think it would look nicer if they didn’t do that. One way to do this would be to, in your .php files (index.php, etc.), give the submit button an id, and then in your style sheet declare it like this:
    #submitbutton {
    border-top: 0;
    }

    – assuming you call the submit button “submitbutton” when you give it an id.
    That would make the two boxes appear right on top of each other, but no double border.

    I see great pictures.
    Unfortunately, I also see a standard WP design that doesn’t do these great pictures justice. If I were you, I’d really do something to make the pictures seem more like they belong in the blog, and make a better design to evolve around the pictures and their texts.
    I also see a lot of text about camera things that I know nothing about, and understand next to nothing of… :-s

    No such confusion as that of no such replies to no such thread about no files with no threads and no such title with no quotes and no text…
    Ouch, I’m getting a headache… :S
