Thanks for the tips. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

    1. turned off CloudFlare
    2. cleared the cache from my cPanel (A Small Orange, Large shared)
    3. renamed my plug-ins folder to “old” which trashed the website but didn’t fix the “database update required” loop in wp-admin. Re-enabled plug-in folder by properly renaming it.

    What would you suggest next?

Tourq — Did this happen to coincide with the latest WP upgrade? 3.5.1. We had the same dramatic traffic drop about that time and can’t figure out why, although we didn’t implement a mobile theme. Maybe the mobile theme breaks something else. I’ll look into that and let you know if I find any link there.

We’re having the same problem as you. Dramatic (70%) dropoff in Google-generated traffic referrals. I noticed in our search terms list that common terms that bring readers to some of our images are gone, so I suspect that you are right that this issue is, at least in-part, image-related. I just can’t tell if that is on our side or Google’s, but now that I know there are some others having this issue I’m thinking it might not be only a change in Google algorithm, but something that changed in WP2.5.1. Could it be something that changed our tags on images? I’ll let you know if I find anything. (https://marinesciencetoday.com)
