I deactivated all plugins, and now the migrations doesn’t stop at wp_posts, but throws the above new, long error when it hits wp_reg_forms

sorry, the actual error referenced the tablw wp_posts, (not wp_mailpress_usermeta as indicated in my original post above). So i excluded that table from the migration, and now i get this error instead:

WordPress database error: [Unknown collation: ‘utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci’]

Tanks for your reply. Yes, i am using a Mac. It doesn’t happen in Chrome, so i work in Firefox (which i prefer) but i keep Chrome open just to modify custom sidebars.

Thanks for looking into it. Maybe it’s something incompatible only on my computer (I will see if i can figure something out on my end), since it’s strange if noone else has ever mentioned this problem.

I can add that if i copy my .htaccess file from the old server and drop it directly into the new server, i then get 500 internal server error. So i deleted it.

Ok thanks! Was it a misunderstanding on my part then, that up until now, WP has automatically done the forwarding of with www to without? (I did not write anything myself in my htaccess file, and nor do i have a redirection configured in my hosting admin area, and yet it forwards at the moment.)
