Hi chandelierrr (@shanedelierrr),
Thanks for the followup, you are too kind.
If there is a way to mark it as “closed” instead of “resolved” , I request you to do so.
As far as I am concerned it is not “resolved’. The vendor never tried to help. A few independent helpers tried to, but it was too late, although their effort is appreciated.
I got the precise answers and procedures and database entries from a competing plugin author. In minutes! He knew exactly where and why and what!
Very sad that iThemes Security never even showed up to help.
Sincerely,
Mike.
Hi Luke Cavanagh,
Thanks for trying to help, but I’m a dummy.
I have no idea what to do to the database without causing permanent damage.
Which is why asked the question in the first place. I had hoped, in this day and age, that a plugin creator would do more to help.
Thanks again,
Mike.
P.S. I am abandoning this help request and will forever have no good words about iThemes support. If I need to check for cron jobs, or something…
Doesn’t that mean that those were created by iThemes and that those were left over by iThemes?
And additionally, doesn’t that mean that the plugin does not “clean up after itself”?
What am I missing here?
And when will iThemes chip in with some help?

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
That is what I needed to know.
And yes, I am now on my way to speak with support at my hosting company to see what they say.
And thanks again for Honeypot for Contact Form 7, it has stopped my spam issues.
Mike.
Hi atxmatt,
Thanks for the response.
Apparently it isn’t that simple?
Leftover there are 46 “itsec” entries in 6 database table columns and 333 instances of “better-wp-security” in the database.
Does iThemes provide a cleanup tool for this?
Thanks,
Mike.
P.S. For my own curiosity, do you officially represent iThemes?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Folder named ‘contact-form-7.bk’Hi Takayuki Miyoshi,
Thank-you very much for the reply and the on-point and succinct answer.
And thanks again for the great plugin
However, I made a mistake in my question that is misleading.
The ‘contact-form-7.bk’ folder is in the regular plugins folder ‘wp-content/plugins/’ and not inside the ‘contact form 7’ folder.Does this change any of your answers?
I’m sorry for the mistakes on my part.
Thanks again,
Mike.

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] Site Crashed with PHP and MySQL errorHI again AITpro,
Thanks for the follow-up!
And I’m sorry that I did not close this myself.
You have gone above and beyond the standards for free help in a free version, and I am so grateful.
If I have any farther trouble I will touch base again.
No need to reply to this note as I know you are busy.

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] Can BPS protect contact form with JTC?HI AITpro,
That is great news, and I will certainly keep on the lookout for it.
JTC works better than anything else I have tried for the WordPress login form.
Thanks,
Mike.
P.S. For whatever it’s worth, I dumped that other reCAPTCHA because it was slowing down every page and post I had. I am sadly now relying on a wimpy math captcha on the contact page form, and it’s hit-or-miss.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [BulletProof Security] Site Crashed with PHP and MySQL errorHi AITpro,
It’s nice of you to follow-up.
Yet, at the moment I have only a small bit of news.
And let’s remember that I am not code literate and needed more time than others.Just yesterday, I figured out what to do by following your excellent instructions.
As per your example, I updated the “BPS Root Custom Code text box” on one site.
But, on three of the others, this part: ” AddHandler application/x-httpd-ea-php74 .php .php7 .phtml ” contains “php71”, and “php73” and “php72” on another. (this might be your reference to ‘old code’)
So I stopped for now.
I thought it would be a good idea for me to contact the hosting company and find out what PHP version settings they think I should add.
When I know their preference, I aim to restore BPS to the new site as well.
Then I plan to go with the BPS-Pro version one site at a time.
Many thanks!
Mike.

In reply to: [BulletProof Security] Site Crashed with PHP and MySQL errorHi AITpro,
Wow! That’s a fast and thorough reply.
I don’t think I mislead anyone, but I don’t have the “Pro” version.
Would “# BULLETPROOF DEFAULT .HTACCESS” be an OK line to put the new text under?
At any rate, I don’t understand code and need to study this a few times. I may even get the hosting company involved.
There is one more factor, I did mention that I use this plugin on several WordPress sites on the same host and those have no trouble. Does this change anything?
You and the plugin are amazing and I thank-you so much,
Mike.
P.S. The only thing keeping me from going Pro is my own ignorance. It has more features and I’m a bit intimidated by it. Is there a way to run the Pro version in some sort of “basic” mode?Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [ZenCache] big big problem in zen cacheHi Raam Dev,
As an amateur I’m curious about the original question.
I’ll frame it a different way; does Comet Cache (Zen Cache) change any permissions that we should be aware of?Thanks in advance,
Mike.
